However, the ambiance at Koi Sushi is simple and functional, with little to distinguish it beyond its practical design. The temperature in the winter months can also fall just below comfort level, which may leave some diners feeling less than fully at ease. The music played is Chinese in origin, which is an unexpected touch for a Japanese restaurant and might not align with the traditional atmosphere one might anticipate.
The service, while efficient, falls short in terms of warmth. The staff, while professional, often appear serious and somewhat disengaged, which affects the overall atmosphere. A more personable and welcoming approach would elevate the service and contribute to a more pleasant dining experience.
Despite these elements, the food at Koi Sushi remains the standout. It is clear that the kitchen prioritizes quality and consistency, making this an ideal choice for those seeking a diverse range of well-prepared dishes.
I went in with high hopes, but the food just wasn’t great. The batter on the shrimp tempura was insanely thick, and the shrimp hadn’t been deveined. The takoyaki seemed like it was cooked from frozen, and the sushi had extremely thin slices of fish and very vinegary rice.
Okay value for the price but I probably won’t be going back.
The restaurant was not too crowded during our visit, however it is noticeable that there were only a few staff. We had a longer wait as compared to our previous visits when the service was fast but no complaints here. The sushi makers took their time to prepare us a wonderful freshly made sushi. Also, the servers made sure our hot green tea cup is never empty! This is so very welcome on a cold night like the night we came.
The price was reasonable, but it did go up like everything else. It was $29.99 per person at the time of this writing.
The atmosphere was casual and relaxed, making it a great place to go with friends or family. They have special dining rooms you can reserve if you’re planning a private gathering.
Pro tip: don’t forget to ask for a matcha green tea ice cream or a red bean ice cream for dessert! They are a perfect end to your wonderful meal and they don’t charge extra for this. It’s included if you paid for eat all you can.
Overall, we recommend this “eat all you can sushi” restaurant to anyone looking for a fun and satisfying sushi experience. The variety and quality of the sushi make it a great value for the price, and the casual atmosphere is perfect for a laid-back evening out.
