For the price you cannot complain. Seven dollars will definitely fill up the average person. This place is known for the steamed rice rolls which they serve generous portions of. But it’s not the best tasting ones in the city. They’re also known for the sponge cake that we unfortunately didn’t get to try, but we will next time. The fillings were decent. The sauces were very good. It’s a no-frills classic institution in the heart of Chinatown. I understand why there’s a lot of hype around it. But I feel like the quality was better before. You do get great value and portion sizes for the money you’re paying. I would give them 3/5 stars.

This was a very disappointing rice roll since the requested toppings were not cooked incorporated. We got an order of the roast pork and it was small cubes poured on top of the rice rolls. The rice rolls themselves were not silky, thicker than I had wanted. The portion of the meat to the small rice rolls was not worth $8. Even with the condiments offered on the table (soy sauce, hoisin, peanut sauce), it was still disappointing to eat.
On the chalk board was advertised the #1 sponge cake for $1.25 and it was not good at all. It is half the size you’d get from competing bakeries and nothing specular from it.
At least there was dining space to sit down and enjoy the meal. There is no bathroom but there’s a sink attachment that you can use to wash your hands!

First time here, service was great, friendly staff and the food was good. We tried the the beef and shrimp variations and they were delicious. Definitely a good amount of food for the price.

Damn, didn’t think I would ever get disappointed by Tonii but it happened today. I used to order from here frequently, their veggie steamed rice rolls are yummy. I ordered a beef rice roll today and it was so lacking! There was barely any meat chunks, 10 pieces max maybe. The layers of the rice rolls are all mushed up and tasted very mushy. The noodles to meat proportion is so off – I feel like a small chern fun from the cart near Hong Kong supermarket has more meat than this! So disappointed to pay $7 buck for this unappetizing lunch. The flavor of all the sauces aren’t hitting the same like a year or two ago too :(( most likely never returning. Service is great tho.
Included a pic of all the pieces without any meat:/ like I would prefer to not eat plain rice roll with sauces

It is not a high end restaurant and kind like fast food one. I don’t expect any good atmosphere or service. I am here is for the rice noodles. But it is very disappointed. 牛拉腸不行。 粉粘牙,牛肉好柴又咸。Maybe other food is good.price is reasonable.we saw the next table ordered cake. So we also ordered one. Not too bad, but not outstanding. Not fluffy enough.

The rice noodles were a slimy texture and there were 5 tiny pieces of meat in the dish. Please do yourself a favour and go to Yin Ji a few doors down.

Stopped by again after a while and noticed they’ve added seating, which is a nice upgrade since there were no tables when we visited during the winter. We ordered the dried shrimp rice noodle and the fresh shrimp rice noodle.
It’s still a solid spot for a quick meal, but the noodles didn’t have the same chewy texture we remembered from before. They were a bit softer.
One thing we appreciated is that they have all the sauces available at the table, including peanut sauce, hoisin, and sweet soy, so you can dress it up however you like. It’s okay if you have no other options for rice noodles but there are so many options nearby.

Honestly delish. Truth be told, there’s very little meat in there for $7. But alas. It’s still delicious.
The magic is really in the sauce. Make sure to dump the special soy sauce all over the top. The peanut butter sauce is also delish. Plus there’s chili oil.
I liked the Toni Special. The tried shrimp is very flavourful.
They’re open until 6:30pm!!! Not 3:30pm!!!
It’s fast – I got takeout in around 5-6 mins. No line.

Update May 2025: wow, this place went from the best in town to absolutely mediocre in just half a year. Idk if the chef or ingredients changed, but that was not it.
Review 2024: One of the best steamed rice roll places I’ve tried in NY. The texture is so soft but not mushy at all. I like it more than Yin Ji Chang Fen. Comes with hoisin sauce, house made soy sauce, peanut butter sauce and chilly sauce on the side separately packing in a bag. No dining areas. I got the #8 tonii’s special, $6+tax

Toni’s Rice Noodle: A Hidden Gem ✨
My Chinatown food hopping adventure wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Toni’s Rice Noodle on Banyard St. This spot is a must-visit if you’re craving hearty, comforting flavors that hit the spot.
What I Ordered:
Toni’s Special Rice Noodle: Generous doesn’t even begin to describe the portion—they really know how to fill a bowl! The rice noodles were silky and perfectly cooked, swimming in a flavorful broth packed with a delicious mix of meats, veggies, and seasonings. It’s one of those dishes that warms you up from the inside out.
Why You’ll Love It:
• The portions are enough to satisfy even the hungriest foodie.
• The flavors are bold, balanced, and absolutely crave-worthy.
Pro Tip: This place gets busy, so be ready to wait a bit—but trust me, it’s worth every second.
If you’re looking for comfort food that’s both filling and packed with flavor, Toni’s Rice Noodle should be on your Chinatown bucket list.
