This place is such an amazing local gem! Its very casual atmosphere is welcoming, and gives off half Japanese bodega/restaurant vibes, as they have both imported goods and yummy eats. The staff is so friendly and honestly made it feel like family serving us. I felt like we were actually eating in a local restaurant in HI, their family is originally from HI, so man the local grindz and chill vibe was spot on. I had the sesame chicken bento box and tempura shrimp à la carte, hubby had a sushi roll with tempura shrimp, cream cheese, avocado, and salmon on top. Everything was really good, very fresh and so ono/oishii. Loved that the tempura and sesame chicken were battered not panko crusted, although they do have panko crusted things on the menu that I’m sure are super yummy. And we had to try their HI snow, which is actually legit HI shave ice, not shaved ice, actually soft shave ice. They even import their syrups from the islands. So so amazing. Thanks for the warm welcome for our first visit Kristy, hope I got your name right. Everyone should check out this place which has been around for nearly 31 years!! Can’t wait til our next visit, I’m glad our mom had a haircut near you guys so we could find you!

They are really sweet here and quality food! They have a ton of options for dessert and some shopping for unique items. Each of us ordered something different and it was all equally good. Our favorite dessert was the chocolate frozen wafer ice cream. We will definitely be back. Thank you!!

I 100% recommend this place! The staff was incredible. Their food was really good and I loved the teriyaki sauce . I loved the atmosphere because they had real plants and it felt very welcoming. We also had wonderful service, and they had our food done quickly and it was quite good. I recommend their spicy edamame and the lychee marble soda. They sell mini bamboo plants for just 10 dollars each. They also sell fun snacks, cute candies, and other things.

Their shave ice is very soft and fluffy, not hard at all. They’re also generous with the syrup but not to the point where it’s too sweet. Also recommended their beef teriyaki. The beef is thin and easy to chew and there is always the right amount of sauce.

Honestly I don’t know why they have high ratings… the bento box was spicy and it was saying in the menu. Sushi roll was way too many rice. Small portions and definitely not a one dollar sign price. The store it’s cute but it not worth the price coming to this restaurant. Not recommend this location.

My visit here today was great the lady was very nice and welcoming when taking my order and checking to see if everything was good A++. It’s nice that they also have a few other items as well to purchase to enjoy Japanese food and snacks at home. The environment in the dining area in very nice and clean and well taken care of.
Overall the sushi it ordered was Excellent and being that they didnt have the Dragon roll on the menu she said “if you know what it has we can make it no problem” that was really nice and it was perfect!
Great place for Lunch or Dinner Highly Recommend Coming here!!

I was expecting more from this place based of all of their rave reviews but was sorely disappointed. For starters, dine in experience is ordering your food up front at the register and then choosing your seat. Once your order is ready they’ll bring the food out to your table. You’ll have to grab your utensils, napkins and condiments by the front island in front of the register. The island is well stocked and organized. Just a strange way to have a dine in experience in my opinion. This spot seems to be more popular by ways of take-out.
Ordered the Chicken Katsu Bento box, run of the mill sides, california rolls, dumplings, sliced and marinated cucumber in the middle of the box to serve as the ‘salad’ portion, and then rice. Their chicken katsu was soggy thanks to the sauce being drenched all over the chicken instead of being served on the side like it’s supposed to be. There goes the crunch for the katsu.
My partner ordered the deluxe bento which includes a variety of meats such as beef teriyaki, katsu, and chicken. The beef in the bento was pretty tasty but overall, flavors did not live up the hyper whatsoever. Ordered a fountain coke soda which for some reason, had no flavor.
Staff were nice, and they cleaned up tables after dine-in customers left. Looked like they disinfected each table which is great. They also have a bunch of Asian snacks and drinks like ramune by the front register which is a surprising bonus but doesn’t make up for their lackluster food and flavor profile.
Perhaps I should order something else next time but honestly, this place isn’t worth a second visit. Everything is just way too bland in my opinion, from the meats to the service, to the fountain soda. Try it for yourself but if you actually like authentic sushi and teriyaki, this place isn’t it. There are plenty of other better sushi and Japanese restaurants around.
Prices: Deluxe Bento is $12.99 and chicken katsu bento is $13.49.
Hours of Operation: M-F 11am to 8:30pm Saturday 4pm to 8:30pm and they are closed Sundays
Phone number: 784-8646
