One of my favorite places to get a banh mi in this area. I always try to drop in whenever I can to get one of their big sandwiches. Its a flat 8 dollars for any of the sandwiches they make. My favorite and recommended are the good ol combo and grilled chicken with pate ( #2 and #13 respectively). The bread is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, perfect vessle to hold all the delicious, fresh, and tasty ingredients added. Its quite bigger than most banh mi’s in the area so you will definitely get your money’s worth. The sandwiches usually span into a 2 meal sandwich for me. Theres also an a-la-carte station thats besides the banh mi area that sells Vietnamese side dishes to go. The a la carte area and sandwich area have 2 different lines.

My family and me have been visiting this deli since I was young. Nothing much has changed if not pricing to adjust for inflation and post-covid supply chain disruptions. I do notice a Chinese man standing outside asking for money which I found odd. Allegedly, the staff told me that his issues were either gambling debts or a drug addiction.

Decent vegetarian banh mi, I feel I’ve had better in SF but love the authenticity of the store! They have a lot more Vietnamese speciality foods and drinks. I need take one of my Vietnamese friends here to explain me what each thing is 🙂 and whether I can eat it haha. Really cool place!

Becareful w/ their grilled chicken. Some of grilled chickens tasted like it was left over many days ago. I couldn’t eat and had to throw away a few purchased from this place. I lost trust and won’t come back.

I don’t like the inconvenience of cash-only establishments. I rarely ever have cash. But if they’re accepting cash-only payments to keep their prices low, I’m A-okay with that.

This Vietnamese deli does have quite a bit of space and a few tables, but it does show its age. The menus clearly haven’t been updated in a long time. They’ve crossed out the old prices with black Sharpie. I’m loving all their cost cutting practices.
If I do say so myself, the hard plastic seats, sticky tabletops, and low health score, are indicative of traits we tend to associate with a more authentic establishment, are they not?

They offer hot food combo items, banh mi , pre-made delicacies, sweets, tea-based beverages, and last, but not least… $0.50 cent baguettes! They stick the baguettes in a bin, so they may not look like much, but they are thick and pillowy, with a crunchy crust. It’s very convenient when you want some bread at home, but can’t finish a two-foot long baguette. Well… who am I kidding? Of course, I can finish a two-foot baguette, but that’s besides the point.

I’ve only ever had the banh mi, which are around a friendly price of $5 (outdated menus say $3.50), and they do them pretty well. These are about the size of a forearm, and made with flavorful meats, crisp pickled carrots, daikon, topped with lots of cilantro and jalapenos, and most importantly, they are very generous with the pate. Some of my sandwiches had pate oozing out.

My favorites of the bunch are:
Banh mi Pate Xa Xiu – BBQ Pork w/ Pate,
Banh mi Thit Cha – Ham & Steamed Pork w/ Pate,
Banh mi Thit Nuong – Grilled Pork.

Thanh Huong’s selection is plentiful and varied, so naturally I find all the food piled around the countertops quite overwhelming. But I am curious to try something different and would love recommendations for something other than banh mi here.

Favorite bánh mì spot in San Jose and I’ve tried plenty! Thanh Huong has the best pate. My entire family craves it! I always ask for extra pate and even take a tub to go with some bread for family parties.

You can’t go wrong with any of the bánh mì. Some of my favorites is the ham, seasoned pork, and combination.

Great banh mi spot, no frills, quick bite there or to go! They have other premade packaged foods, fresh baked bread & Viet coffee too.

Bread could have been toasted a bit more. Sandwich is well balanced with meat and veggies. The shrimp pork goi cuon was very good and fresh. A bit pricey, $6 for the sandwich and $6 for spring rolls. I would return.

This is probably one of the best hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurants I’ve been to in the Bay! First time here and I wanted to buy everything. There’s so many options to choose from. The pork bahn mi and the beef noodle soup were sooooo good!
