We shared these at the bar and had an amazing hurricane drink that again was probably the best I’ve ever had even better than the ones I’ve had in New Orleans and Louisiana.
The bartender gave us a small sample of the crawfish étouffée sauce, and it was extremely flavorful! We will be getting that on our next visit. I got 3 pounds of hot boiled crawfish that were excellent! The owner suggested I try a pound of the same crawfish, but cold because you can taste more of the seasoning he said. So true, and very good as well!
We also enjoyed a cup of the gumbo and jambalaya and pleased with both of those as well. We will definitely be coming back to try more Cajun specialties because everything tastes so great this time.
Left is Cajun Jimmys Seafood Seller and Right is Shuckers.
The road and entrance were easy with plenty of private lot parking.
Upon entering we were seated immediately but that’s when things took a turn.
We waited neary 8 minutes (restaurant was not busy)before we were acknowledged by a server and noticed that was a common theme amongst tables around us until finally our Server arrived.
She took our drink order and we made sure to place an appetizer order before she could walk off and we would have another long wait.
The table next to ours were there when we arrived and were still waiting for a server to come to their table long after we got our drinks until finally one of the guest went to question why no one had came to their table.
We made the mistake of ordering the:
“Fried Green Tomatoes” which came out in pieces (rather than sliced) and were cooked extremely soft and mushy.
Also……
The “Seafood Gumbo” which turned out to be just plain out Nasty.
Credit to our Server ‘Emma” for trying the best of her ability to make our experience pleasant.
We kept the Fried Green Tomatoes without saying a word but returned the Gumbo
NOTE:
“Everyone reading this should be advised concerning returning horrible food ….
The Manager ~that never ventured out to the floor but rather stayed out of sight in the back of house out of sight of unhappy guest~ sent word that the policy is they do not take off items from the check but this time only they would. Normaly they take a small percentage of the price off.
NOTE #2:
Remember that before you order.
Good or horrible, the guest, is responsible for the mistake they made ordering the item.
The rest of the experience went rather uneventful until it became time to pay the check…..
We asked if the restaurant did Military Discount and were told yes 10% which is the normal discount given to Veterans.
NOTE #3:
But imagine our surprise when the check came and the “10% Military Veterans Discount” was for one item one the check only not the whole check for two.
NOTE #3:
Make no mistake we are grateful for any discount but the policy for this location should be explained to the costumer correctly.
Even after questioning the things that happened wrong with our experience the Manager working couldnt be respectful enough to do a table visit themselves but left the staff to try and smooth things over.
Needless to say we will be sticking with our Crystal River location where things work 100% differently.
Back Story on myself….
I come the Hospitality Industry having worked and Managed and General Manager for some of the smallest family owned bars and restaurants to the Highest Volume Larger Restaurants in the country (Hard Rock, Planet Hollywood, Dave and Busters, Jillians,) and Managing the Marriotts.
NOTE #5:
Never would I let a Guest exit any location unhappy without myself or one of my Managers making contact with that Guest.
A Happy Guest tells 10 people about their experience
A Unhappy Guest tells EVERYONE about their bad experience.
We also had the stuffed, bacon wrapped shrimp, fried okra and broccoli . I should try other dishes but will prob always have the crab cake , it’s that good.
Nothing fancy but the seafood was very good. We had Shrimp/Grits, FO Soup, Fried Shrimp, Soft shell Crabs, Scallops and a Lobster Roll.
Our server, Charlee, did well until she got overloaded just before we ordered the vignettes but not bad.
We plan on coming back.
Surprised than Shrimp Creole is not on the menu.
