The Detroit style one was a different story, though. That was very good. The drinks were also creative and fun to browse as well.
Our waiter was incredibly friendly and made us feel very welcome. Worth a try.
Instead of kettle chips, I opted for the Little Beast Salad—a refreshing mix of spring greens, cucumber, tomato, and red onion tossed in house-made herb vinaigrette.
Whether you’re stopping by for a casual lunch or craving bold, fresh flavors, Little Beast doesn’t disappoint.
The service and atmosphere were par for the course, nothing spectacular. The food, however, far exceeded my expectations.
First & foremost, this bistro’s speciality is pizza — thin coal fired or Detroit-style. My wife is allergic to dairy but was blown away by the coal-fired vegan cheese vegetable pizza, which was decadent and perfectly balanced between the splendid vegan cheese, mushrooms, spinach, olives and house made tomato sauce! Note: they only do not do vegan cheese substitutes for their Detroit-style pizza.
Their Sunday brunch sandwiches — in this case, the McBeasty — were superb, and the Caesar Salad was very fresh and had a unique house made Caesar dressing that tied in everything well!
I can confidently say that this place takes #1 for best vegan cheese pizza.
That said, I enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and professional, and I liked the laid-back atmosphere. The asparagus appetizer was excellent, the Caesar salad was okay, and the Buffalo wings missed the mark. The wings were a good cut, but they came out way too quickly — just a few minutes after ordering . That makes me wonder when they were actually cooked, since proper frying takes longer.
Bottom line: this is a pizza place, not a wing place. If you stick to the pizza, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
The Red Wing Pizza had a deep dish, thicker crust and a thin layer of sauce and cheese on top, with additional spices. Molto bene!
The Red Wine Braised Short Rib was great, too. My friend thought the meat was too dry for his taste, but I tried it and thought it was great: tender beef without excessive oil. The dish also included a surprisingly great side of brussels sprouts and cornmeal (looks like mashed potatoes in the included picture). Overall, great dish.
The place, when we went, was sparse (a little after dinner rush on a Monday night) and had plenty of small, open tables inside, with more outside. Wait staff was attentive enough, not overly so, but checked in throughout dinner. I also asked about the brussels sprouts and the waiter got to share their thoughts on how it’s cooked and what they liked about it. Nice experience and service, overall.
We found street parking a short block away.
The Short Rib was $25 and the Red Wing Pizza was $20. Priced on the higher end, but worth it, in our opinion! I’d recommend both dishes!
5/5 stars from me.
Known for their Detroit Style Pizza that consists of a thick buttery crust that is in the shape of a rectangular. Of all the pizzas I tried, the short rib pizza was my favorite.
If New York style pizza is more your speed, this option is available as well.
