If I could give it zero stars I would. I just had an experience so bad at Esperanza Restaurant that I thought I was on Kitchen Nightmares or something. Looking around for Chef Ramsay. I got the Quesa Birria quesadillas that came with beans and rice… The salsa there was straight water, the rice was crunchy, the beans tasted like they came out of a can, and the meat had no flavor. So I complained and they took the meals off of our tickets (my sister Kristen and I went together). I had to go through three different people to even get the meals taken off. And then the lady wants to argue with me about the beans didn’t come out of a can. And then it took us 15 to 20 minutes to even get out of there after that because?? There’s really no good reason. Oh, and then, when they brought the receipts back, they charged us more than they had on the original receipt… Because apparently there’s a 4% charge for using a card which nobody told us and it was not posted anywhere. Also, they charged for the chips and salsa and charged a “comp tax” on top of that. What is a comp tax?! My sister and I were outside talking for a little bit and a lady came back with her to go order and had the same complaints we did. I watched for a bit from outside because I’m nosy and they were arguing with her too. Terrible. Just terrible. Save your money and your teeth. Don’t go there!

This is an incredible restaurant that has consistently delivered both delicious food and excellent service ( Lauren is so kind) . I have made this one of my go to places when I am in the area,, I also enjoy supporting small business owners. I look forward to watching them grow, because with food this delicious they most certainly have a great future.

I have been following the Taco Shack since the beginning and have enjoyed everything I have ever gotten from them! They now have opened this brick and mortar restaurant and let me just tell you…it is awesome! I loved being able to go in and sit down and be able to eat and enjoy it while it’s hot. The owners are very sweet and accommodating and the staff was so friendly and professional. I got the smothered burrito plate this time and it was incredible! Do yourself a favor and just give them a try…you truly will not regret it! Authentic Mexican food at it’s finest!

10/10! The food was amazing. I had the quessabirria taco combo, and my wife had the ramen noodles with birria. Everything was on point, the customer service was amazing as well. Our server Lauryn was awesome, she was so nice and always looking out for us if we needed refills or anything. This place is new and upcoming but definitely has flavor! Will definitely come back with friends and family.

Great place to eat. The food was great and so was the service. The waitress was constantly checking on us to be sure we had everything we needed. 3 of us ate well for 50.00 at supper time. We had food left over to take home. Everyone working was very friendly. We tried chicken, pork, and beef dishes and 1 had a burger and fries. No complaints on anything.

Loved the food at Esperanza’s!! The staff is extremely friendly and treat you like family. Everything has amazing flavor and served in a very timely manner. We have had breakfast, lunch, supper and a special Valentine’s Day meal that we really enjoyed !!!

I had high hopes, but they were shot down quickly. First, the salsa was absolutly disgusting, it tasted like ketchup, salt, and hot sauce. It was also more of a picante sauce and not a salsa. We sent it back and told the waitress it was disgusting. Then she brought out half of an avocado with a couple of cut marks in it, some tiny onion and a small amount of garlic on top and called it guacamole. I love avocado so it was great with the slightly stale chips but it was not guacamole. I ordered the 3 taco meal, 1 chicken, 1 beef and 1 pork. The chicken taco was seasoned with salt and a lot of it. There was no other flavor in the chicken, just salt. It was topped with white onion and large pieces of chopped cilantro. It was extremely salty and hard to eat. Luckily, it was small. The beans were straight from a can, it tasted like an off-brand cheep can of beans that was scooped out with a metal spoon. They were also cold so its good that they didn’t put much on the plate. The rice appeared to have been warmed in microwave, the top layer was stuck together and dry. I did not eat the beans or rice, just a small taste. Then, I tasted a tiny piece of the steak and pork but it was super salty so I did not eat those either. My friend ordered a steak burrito but they gave her a ground hamburger burrito. She said the meat had no flavor, just hamburger meat. We ate less than 10% of the meals and ended up not being charged. It was disgusting!! I actually felt sick that night from the salty chicken. I will not go back!
Maybe the cook was new and lied on his resume, maybe next time would be better, I dont know, but I’m not willing to try again!!

Service: 5 stars, definitely treated with respect and felt welcomed
Flavor of food: 3 stars. Flavors were alright but definitely lacking. Salsa for chips was missing flavor and very runny. I got a fajita salad and got a piece of toast on the side???
Authenticity and atmosphere : 1 star: not a single mexican-american employee around, not even any mexican music. Only played rock and genres related to rock. I would imply that the owners are Caucasians.
Price of food 4 stars: items on menu aren’t to bad, I believe I paid $14 for the fajita salad.

Possibly the best Mexican restaurant in Goldsboro. I know that’s a bold statement. But the staff is so pleasant. They don’t rush you like the locations do. The food is top notch!!! Very relaxing environment. Please, please please give it a try. You will not be disappointed.
