That day, we happened to be visiting Trader Joe’s (the two stores are very close). Seeing that the line wasn’t too long, we decided to give it a try. After all, every time we walk out of Trader Joe’s, we can smell their fried chicken—it’s seriously tempting.
To be fair, their sauce is really good. The fries are pretty similar to other fast-food places, but the chicken tenders were tender and juicy. Overall, definitely worth trying at least once.
Tender and moist inside.
I loved it!
This was my first time eating at Raising Canes and it was a great experience.
I was very optimistic before my visit because I’ve read and seen a lot of great reviews.
The fingers are not overly battered and they’re seasoned just enough to be really good.
The Cane’s Sauce makes the fingers even better, but the fingers are good enough to stand on their own.
I loved the crinkle cut fries. They hold the salt and ketchup better than other fries.
The cole slaw was refreshingly delicious with the nice carrot and cabbage blend.
The slaw can definitely go up against KFC and Lee’s in a competition/comparison any day of the week.
I ordered the Caniac Combo…
6 fingers
Fries
Dipping sauce
Cole slaw
Texas Toast
32 oz drink
The food value was decent. Only $16.88 for all of that yummy goodness. I had a great meal for under $20.
Everything was good except for the Texas Toast was a little soft and undercooked, but it wasn’t lacking flavor so it was still good.
My total experience gets 5 stars, and I hardly ever rate any place that high, but they deserve it.
If you live near a Canes, get there.
If you don’t live near a Canes, get there.
Raising Canes will give KFC, Wing Stop, Lees, BWW, Wing Street, and any other chicken joint a fun for their money.
Canes is just that good.

This is my second time at a Raising Cane’s that I can recall and I wasn’t thrilled either time. I think I may not be the target audience despite how much I love chicken.
The service was friendly and I believe the food was fresh but it just wasn’t anything special. I’m not sure what this restaurant is supposed to be doing differently than others but it wasn’t enough to win me over.
We went through the drive through so I can’t comment on anything to do with the inside of the restaurant.
THE FOOD:
Texas Toast
Have you ever smelled cheap red wine that’s been spilled on an old carpet? That’s what the toast tasted like. I also thought it would be a little crispy but maybe I assumed incorrectly. The toast was soft and limp on top of smelling and tasting bad. It didn’t taste like something was unhealthy about it…it just wasn’t good. And the fact that it was so soft and limp…it’s like it was steamed before being put into the container.
Crinkle Cut Fries
“Crinkle cut and perfectly salted”
They were crinkle cut but may have had salt near them at some point and picked up a hint of the taste of it. These were also not crispy in the least. Maybe that’s intentional and again, if so…I’m not the target audience.
Cole Slaw
This tasted fresh ish but again misses the mark on flavor. The balance was off from what I think of from a good cole slaw. This tastes like it has a high amount of ginger in it. And not in a good “hey that’s a fun and exotic flavor” but more of a “should this be spicy?” Kind of way.
Finally, the chicken tenders
We went through the drive thru and pulled right into bland central station. The texture of the chicken was softer than what I would expect from a fried chicken product and the batter lacked any kind of flavor at all. To the point where the thing I tasted most was the oil the chicken was cooked in. It was fully cooked so no concerns there but it’s the most bland restaurant chicken I think I’ve ever had.
I’ve got no desire to stop at a Raising Cane’s again. If all those call outs are deliverate, it is definitely not a good restaurant for me.
