Since the Grainbox is located within the Barn Store, I wasn’t sure if I was in the right place. The restaurant consists of a counter with grill behind and a few tables. I sat at the counter. The server and cook had friendly banter going back and forth which made me think of a old movie and made it a fun experience. I ordered the blueberry pancakes and the real maple syrup helped them make my taste buds do the happy food dance.

Reluctantly sharing because this is such a hidden treasure. Keith made us the most delicious breakfast. Highly recommended the eggs Benedict, the breakfast pork chop, and, hear me out, the breakfast beans!

Important note – the sign by the road does not mention the restaurant, but just go in the Barn Store and you’ll find it. We had a great lunch; hamburger, BLT, and grilled cheese. Homemade bread and large portions of fries. Highly recommend it.

Dude. 12/10. They brine their own corned beef, they have gorgeous thick-cut pork chops, and the pancakes are perfect. If you have a chance to try the breakfast beans, definitely get that, too. We pass this place all the time on our way between the upper valley and Dover, and I’m so happy that we finally stopped in. The staff is so lovely, and Keith the chef made our day. We will absolutely be back any time we’re heading down rt 4, and you should too!

Three words can only describe this place. Simply the best. The first time I came here was around six years ago. I got two pancakes, and The Grainbox Restaurant instantly became my favorite breakfast spot. The pancakes are cooked to perfection, the bacon is perfectly crispy, and you can’t forget about Chef Keith! He is an amazing chef and a very kind man. If you want a good breakfast, than come to The Grainbox Restaurant.

One of the best breakfasts we’ve had EVER. Pancakes were amazing, as were the locally sourced, homemade corned beef hash, sausage, toast…my husband and I both couldn’t believe how wonderful our meals were. Wish we lived closer. Keith, the chef, was super sweet, too!

I don’t want to rate this restaurant because we weren’t able to eat there. I drove up from Concord with my 102 yr old mother and I went inside to check it out for walker access and table availability. Everything looked good, so I got her out and into the store, and as soon as we got near the restaurant area, a girl asked me if we were going to the restaurant. When I said yes. She said “I’m sorry, but we’re getting ready to close.” I said “you’re kidding, right?” and she said that they’d run out of nearly everything so they were closing early. That was approximately 45 minutes before the actual closing time. By then, everything else would be closed, so we turned around and drove all the way to ihop in Bedford. ♀️ So, no one is to blame, but we were just really excited to eat there because I’ve never stopped there before. We’ll try again and we’ll hope for a successful visit!!

Best breakfast!!! Real corned beef hash, not canned and I’m so picky with pancakes, I’ve tried many different flavors and brands in my day and not a huge fan, but these pancakes are the absolute best!!!!!!! My favorite breakfast!

Chef Keith is amazing!!! We stopped by for breakfast on our way to Mt. Kearsage. Everything was so fresh, especially the potatoes! And most items on the menu were from local farms! Definitely worth a stop next time you’re in Salisbury

Great food. Keith is the best. It’s inside of a hardware store so don’t let it fool you. Go into the front and go left . Went with a group of 7 people and we were served quickly and everyone loved the food. If you’re not from the area he has some suggestions for places to see or some things to do.
