Social Profile:

In 2016 the villages of Warwick, Greenwood Lake, Monroe and West Milford needed a good Mexican restaurant. When a building became available, Carlos Morales and his business partner, Luis Barajas, put together an awesome menu of authentic Mexican meals and in May opened their family restaurant, Mexicanzingo. Being so close to the New York and New Jersey Greenwood Lake beaches, as well as the Mountain Lakes Road beaches in Monroe, summer take-out is a large part of the restaurant’s summer business.

Fantastic Find: Mexicanzingo Restaurant Exceeds Expectations!
My wife and I were in the area and decided to try Mexicanzingo Restaurant after seeing its consistently high reviews, and it certainly did not disappoint! As folks from Las Vegas, we appreciate good food, and this place truly delivered.
From the moment we walked in, we could tell everything was made fresh, which really made a difference. The food, as pictured, was absolutely awesome! My wife thoroughly enjoyed her chicken enchiladas, and my carne asada dish was cooked to perfection.
Beyond the delicious food, the entire restaurant was spotlessly clean, right down to the restrooms. The service was also wonderful, attentive without being overbearing.
We highly recommend Mexicanzingo Restaurant. If we’re ever in the area again, we’ll definitely be back!

An overall good experience. Their dishes aren’t very memorable but it was a nice stop when starving after snow tubing. There aren’t many other options around the area. The wait for the food was on the longer side, I wasn’t a huge fan of their rice but the beans were good. The taco was nice as well.

My new go to place for authentic Mexican in the Warwick area. Guacamole is excellent. The salsa that comes with the chips is tasty and well balanced. Good tacos, double wrapped, I recommend the carnitas and carne asada, ask for the special home made spicy salsa. Surprised they did not have chorizo tacos, well they are not on the menu anyway. I did not ask. We where in the mood for Michelada’s but alas, no alcohol is served here. Friendly staff. The place is small and there is literally one parking space.

The restaurant is small and packed full of fun, colorful paintings on the tables and chairs. The food hit it out of the park with everything we tried, especially the beef tacos and chimichangas. The service was very friendly though a little slow, but it was a super busy Saturday night so it was understandable. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a hearty, flavor-packed meal.

Impromptu stop after the NY Ren fair, and I got a quick bite. Food was decent for the price.

So I am east to please with regard to food. I try to support local as much as possible. This place is very pricey for the food you get. First any dish you order is set on top of shredded lettuces. So if you order guacamole, it’s served on top of a bed of shredded lettuce, so you end up getting much less Then a normal portion size and now they’re charging over $12 for this on their appetizer menu, way inappropriate. I judge Mexican restaurants by having good fresh guacamole, and I used to go there and get their guacamole to go, but no longer at this price. Additionally, their chips are as basic as it gets no taste and I usually use my own chips because grocery store chips taste better. I like a good Mexican restaurant that has delicious guacamole and fresh chips. If you order an item from their menu like a burrito or a taco bowl or salad, they tend to stuff it with the cheaper ingredients like lettuce and rice and serve minimal amounts of meat, vegetables, or even mushrooms. They do, however, season their food nicely. You don’t get much of it for the money.

We had Chicken taco salad and it was mainly a bowl of lettuce that got soggy from the sautéed mushrooms with some chicken and some thin slices of avocado. Normally, it would’ve been stacked with rice, but I requested it without rice because I knew it would be mainly a bowl of rice.
I don’t like restaurants that fool you and I think they are taking advantage of customers by serving the much cheaper ingredients and limiting the main ingredients. However, if you order their meats, they are well seasoned so I will give them that. Yet with many delicious Mexican restaurants in Orange County and the community there are four others that I would rather drive further to than to have the convenience of eating here and not getting my moneys worth.
