Verdigris in Leawood and easily one of the best cocktail bars in the Kansas City area. The attention to detail in their drinks is unmatched—expertly crafted, balanced, and creative. The rotating menu keeps things fresh, so there’s always something new to try, but they also nail the classics. The ambiance is classy yet welcoming, making it perfect for a date night or a laid-back evening with friends. Service is top-notch, and the bartenders really know their craft. If you appreciate a well-made cocktail, this place is a must-visit!

Great bar with great vibes and great, no, amazing cocktails. The servers and bartenders are all very friendly and professional. Drinks are delicious and unique without being gimmicky. Definitely recommend for an after dinner cocktail.

Oh you fancy huh! First experience with Verdigris and I was extremely impressed. This is a great spot for high end cocktails. The food my group had was very good too.

This bar is stunning! The bartenders and host were very kind and friendly. You can tell just by watching the bartenders work that they are incredibly skilled. The atmosphere is very classy but relaxing. I only ordered one, but every drink we saw made looked like a work of art. I ordered an aqua regia and it was one of the best drinks I’ve ever had. I would absolutely go again in a heartbeat.

Came to this bar for my sister’s birthday and we brought her birthday cake with us. We asked for plates and forks. At the end of the night—after nothing was said or noted—the waiter rudely asked, “Who is going to be picking up the cake-cutting fee?”
I was VERY confused and looked at him and said, “I have to pay a fee for cutting the cake that we brought?” He was snappy and said, “Yes, it’s very standard in most places to be charged for something like this.”
I have never encountered this before, and I’ve definitely brought cakes to plenty of places for birthday celebrations. What’s even more astounding than his sassy, rude attitude was the fact that they didn’t disclose that it was going to cost $25 JUST TO USE PLATES AND FORKS. Then they blamed us moving tables for the “confusion.” Even though we had the same waiter the whole time.
Keep in mind, between the 7 of us, we ordered over $200 in drinks—but the cake fee MUST be paid??? There wasn’t any confusion. It was just bad service.
I honestly wouldn’t have cared if they had the fee—just tell us upfront and don’t gaslight me at the end of the night about it. The drinks are good here, but the “better-than-you” attitude from the waiter was very off-putting.
The manager was kind and refunded us after I spoke with her, but the overall experience and the gaslighting about the cake-cutting fee definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.

Update: a year later, we’ve been back a handful of times and each time was just as wonderful as the first. They may not currently have my all-time fav anymore (Matronae’s Blessing), but they consistently have so many delicious drinks. And as always, the staff is so nice!
While here, we sat at the bar and tried Millionaire, Aqua Regia, Matronae’s Blessing, South Hyde Park, Duragno Martini and Pendergast. All were phenomenal and the bartender was so nice.

My wife had the steamed buns, which was pretty good. Not much going on the place was pretty dead for a Friday night. Party of six had a couple of bottles of wine martinis some decent cocktails. Not very busy, but it always took a while to get the drinks. Spoiler alert don’t get too loud or they’ll come over to your table and tell you to be quiet. Evidently they have a policy about having too much fun. Won’t be back.

It’s a velvety, plush trap that will have you for at least a few hours; no one’s counting though! Bring your friends, family, a partner, or just yourself and try all the different drinks that catch your eye. While the drinks are a bit pricey for what you get (not very strong and not a lot, truly a cocktail) they are interesting and fun to share. The bar opens quite early in the day, so enjoy the decor and show up early to ensure you get seating. The bathrooms were kept clean and the service was very welcoming and fun! You’re likely to meet some managers as well as the cocktail inventors behind the bar. Based on the drinks alone, I wouldn’t have snuck the fifth star in however their FOOD menu is the best surprise. I highly recommend trying their popcorn, a Monte Cristo, or whatever new item they come up with. To their chef, all the stars.
