I just ate there last week. I had the white fish sandwich. It was very good. The owners recently moved to Louisville about a month ago.

Great environment, food is made to order. It will in fact take 20 minutes plus if not more depending on how busy they are. You for sure will wait a pretty penny after ordering your food BUT EVERYTHING WILL BE HOT & FRESH NOOO QUESTIONS ASKED.
I Like that they open your box or each boxed from your order to show you your food before they bag it and hand it off to you.
Plenty on seating. Plenty of parking. One single unisex restroom. There is wheelchair access.
Everything on their menu is not online so it is more realistic to call in your order or come inside instead of calling to add or make substitutions.
Easy to talk to very patient.
I love getting food from here this is like the church soul food that you make sure you have a ToGo plate from.
I order the wing and chicken breast dinner with two sides ( Yams & Greens ) I add Cornbread and a small cabbage (the menu doesn’t saying there is sausage cooked and mixed with the cabbage) with pork sausage.
Their Ribs Are Pork.
They do have spaghetti for a side that is freaking delicious as well!
Once you get close to the address slow down because the entrance/exit is kind of hidden.

McGee’s Chicken is a fantastic new addition to the area! The owners are originally from Chicago and you can tell they truly know “real food”. The flavors are authentic and the quality is top notch.
On top of the great food, the owners are incredibly personable and make you feel right at home the moment you walk in. Since they’re new to the area, definitely stop by and give them a try. You won’t be disappointed!

The chicken will definitely make you come back! It was so delicious and crispy like we like it. I got the combo that comes with 2 pieces of fish (choice of whiting or catfish), 3 wings, and two sides. My sides were spaghetti and cabbage. I loved the cabbage as well. My husband got the 10 piece whole wings that comes with homemade fries. They put the real lemon pepper on the fish and chicken but you can get it with or without. I got extra on mine. The atmosphere was pleasant and the owners are really nice. They’re from Chicago and have locations in Wisconsin as well.

Man this place is just terrific. I got a fish sandwich yesterday. The fries were cold but the fish was so good I had to go back today. This time I took a buddy with me. After talking with them about the fries, I realize they weren’t “cold” so to say. They are just fresh cut potatoes. With that in mind this time, the whole meal was excellent. Great customer service. Great atmosphere. I will definitely be frequenting McGees for this fish sandwich.

Wonderful customer service and food! We need more restaurants like this. Community feel. I sat in here for about 40 minutes, enjoying my food and saw the owner greet at least 5 people by name. It was beautiful. Will definitely be back with my husband. A bit of a wait, but well worth it for delicious fresh food

Portions are huge, food is amazing. I’ve never ordered food from a place where everything on the plate tasted good. Pork chops seasoned and cooked perfectly! The dressing and Mac and cheese also sooo good. Even good not reheated!
