We were surprised and delighted by how fresh the food was at this restaurant. We wandered in about 8 PM on a very slow night and yet our sashimi was absolutely fantastic and all our other dishes were beautifully presented. We would 100% return to this restaurant. It’s a hidden gem

Small family-run business. It’s well rated in the area, but doesn’t hold up to its ratings.
The vibe is very similar to Yoshi Sushi in Latham. You don’t get much by way of service, so it is really not worth eating in. The sushi was hit or miss — fresh salmon, freezer burned octopus, average eel. The Korean hot entrees were very overcooked to the point of mushiness and is diabetes on a plate, it is just bathed in sugar.
For a superior sushi experience in every way, go to Yoshi in Latham. For sushi in a higher league, go to Sushi By Bou.
Any of the other many Korean places would be a better choice.

Best Wings I’ve had at any restaurant.
The sushi was delicious and fresh.
Had a wonderful eating experience at this restaurant with my family.
Try the Saki, we had it cold and enjoyed it.
Will be back again, saved as one our favorite Sushi place.

Love the sushi and bibimbap here! Everything was fresh and delicious. The bibimbap (at least the dolsot) comes in a real stone bowl and is still sizzling when they deliver it to your table. Prices were reasonable for one of the only real bibimbap in the area. The tempura, sushi and chicken cutlet (katsu) are all delicious as well!
Service was friendly, and the interior is nice, not too crowded with perhaps 10-15 tables total.
Definitely coming back!

Amazing!!! I try to come every time I’m in Albany area! The food is amazing and fresh all the time. Been here more than 10 times in 6 weeks and it is so worth it! These days it isn’t worth going out to eat because the service and quality isn’t there anymore but this place is the exception! The clear soup is so delicious also.

Tried the sushi for take out once and liked it so much we decided to come dine in. Didn’t disappoint. The whole family enjoyed the meal. GREAT service and TERRIFIC food. Hard to find good sushi since Saso’s left Albany but this is a really good place.

The quality of the fish is outstanding, it is easily the best in the Albany area. I visit here frequently to see family and I have tried all the well reviewed sushi places. Somehow I missed Modu, but you might say I saved the best for last. This is not a Japanese fusion place, which are very common in the area and usually focus on a trendy atmosphere. Modu is more traditional and you are going to get very high quality fish which is absolutely delicious. Between the tasty food and good service our whole group of six agreed that it is obvious why it is so highly rated and we were all wondering how we missed it. We’re definitely coming back.

We had the sushi boat for two at Modu Sushi, and it was exceptional! The freshness and quality of the sushi were outstanding. Each piece was a delight, from the nigiri to the rolls. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the presentation was beautiful. The variety offered in the sushi boat allowed us to taste a range of flavors and textures, all of which were top-notch. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for high-quality sushi in a welcoming atmosphere.
If you are in the area you will be hard pressed to find more authentic sushi.
