Good experience at 818. Traveling for work and found it on Google. Server said the country fried steak is the most popular item, so I tried it. Full disclosure, I don’t normally order that meal, but it was better than the other times I remember eating country fried steak. Neat decor, friendly staff. Salad was also pretty good. I’ll go back and try something else, and update the review.

Food wasn’t bad and service was great. However, $12.00 for a waffle that you can get at a local hotel for free was excessive. We spent over $15.00 for one waffle and 2 pieces of bacon for an 8yo child. My 12yo ordered the same. Seriously, it’s cheaper to take my kids to Texas Roadhouse for a steak dinner than to eat a small breakfast here.

Food fine. When seated with my service dog waitress gave a dirty look and stuck us by the kitchen. Then pushed to keep him under table. Not good for disabled. Had toddler with us and didn’t offer a high chair. When brought highchair didn’t take away extra chair.

Fantastic place! The dinner salad was cold and crisp, with homemade croutons and dressing. Our meals were delicious – well seasoned but not crazy salty. Fries were hot and crispy. Servers were attentive, and empty glasses were quickly refilled. The perfectly crunchable pellet ice was great, too!
It was lovely hearing locals greeting one another, and as I was checking out one of the servers was telling another about how one of the customers had made her the custom apron with pockets.
If we’re ever back in Alva, we’ll definitely be eating here.

Wife and I had small chicken fried steak. It was very tough and grizzly. I only ate half of mine. Will probably not come back.
