A little while ago, this was the first place I ever tried birria tacos at, and I absolutely loved it. This is now one of my favorite spots for Mexican takeout. I got to try their quesabirria tacos, consomme, rice pudding, and strawberry lemonade agua Fresca.
It was all amazing. The tacos were the stars of the show. Amazing portion for a very, very reasonable price. The beef was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. Not too fatty like at many other places. Perfect bit of crunch to the outside. Cheese was great too. And the consomme…nice portion and so, so flavorful, not too spicy, and just perfectly warm. You have to get these.
The rice pudding was very solid as well. Again, a nice portion. Would have liked it to be a tad creamier, but still great. Kept the texture of the rice quite firm. Nice hint of cinnamon.
Finally, the agua Fresca was amazing too. Very refreshing indeed! An amazing portion, flavorful, tad creamy, and the perfect balance of sweetness. Highly recommend this place.

Growing up in Houston, TX I have had many fabulous Mexican meals and dishes from the most authentic and delicious sources. When I tell you El Colibrí has thee best Mexican food I’ve ever tasted, that isn’t an uneducated guess. The elote, quesabirras, huaraches, and gorditas are out of this world; the vegan dishes like soyrizo, oyster mushroom birra, and nopales (cactus) are must-tries, and the beverages are on a whole other level. The aguas frescas and horchatas are very highly recommended and come in dairy free versions, and the Mexican hot chocolate (dairy and nondairy) in the cold months can raise the dead it’s so good. Don’t forget to try the birria ramen and tamales!! The people are kind, eager to please, and professional. I am so so happy we are lucky enough to have delicious authentic Mexican cuisine and wonderful people here in Pittsburgh. Can’t recommend enough.

I’ve had a hard time finding authentic Mexican food since moving here for college but when I found this place on DoorDash I’ve had nothing but amazing, fresh delicious food! Everything from the birria tacos, to the aguas frescas and deserts have been 10/10! Absolutely love getting food from here 🙂 brings me right back to home!

I had many good authentic homemade Mexican food growing up and Pittsburgh Mexican food was not what I was used to but I would say El Colibri was better than other places I have had! I ordered 3 barria tacos and they were juicy and watermelon aqua fresa super refreshing! 8/10!

Took a chance with only 1 review but it was worth it 🙂 Loved the food! Sad there isn’t a specific place to eat inside but that’s okay we did anyways! I got the 3 Quesabirria tacos. It was $18 which is a little pricey for me since I’m from Orlando and these are pretty common there but for this location it was definitely worth it! Would for sure recommend!!

I ordered the first time and food was amazing. Birria meat was seasoned, the food seemed fresh and hot. Ordered a second time 2 days later and received no cheese with my quesabirria tacos, the meat tasted flavorless and my corn that I received tasted and looked like it was sitting out for 8 hours.
