The curry, the katsu (chicken) and udon were all great. The service was great. I asked about spicyness and they warned that even 5 was super spicy for people who like spice. I ordered the 7. It wasn’t that bad (quite a bit milder than the normal buldak ramen). Just in case this helps anyone.

First time I had this was in 2016 in Japan. Just as good here in the states with an expanded menu since I was there last. Took my wife for the first time and she fell in love. We’ll worth the hour drive for good food. 100% recommend!

This place was just recently opened officially around 2nd week of November 2025. IT’s my 2nd time to visit this place and the food did not disappoint. The size of the plate and portion of the food is decent for the price (ranging around $12 to $20 per plate for the Curry selections). I’m not sure if it’s the usual amount of curry sauce on other resto but they are generous on the sauce as you can see on the photo.. you can also ask them to separate the sauce if you don’t want everything soaked in it. I ordered the Chicken Cutlet Omelet Curry and I ask to add mushrooms in it for an additional cost. The only comment I have is that the food takes a litfle time to get out of the kitchen but I believe in time will improve.. so don’t come in if you’re really hungry.. give an amount of time the the wait. Overall I will visit fhis place again for a regular lunch or a dinner from time to time.

Pretty standard curry, nothing incredible. The primary draw of this chain is the customization options and the fact that they can make it actually spicy, unlike most food in Orange County.
It’s newly opened, so there are some clear growing pains in terms of service, but they’re friendly and the food came out quickly.
If you are comfortable with “Hot” or “Very Hot” Dave’s Hot Chicken, for reference, or Hot Cheetos are an easy snack you’ll be fine ordering level 4 or 5 spice. If you are comfortable with “Reaper” level at Dave’s Hot Chicken, and Xxtra Hot Cheetos are easy enough for you, order lever 8+ spice at least.
I would come here again for dependable quality curry with decent variety, but it’s nothing I’m going to ever really crave.

So good. I got the pork cutlet omelette curry with level 1 spice (next time I’ll get level 2 b/c it didn’t burn lol) and added extra pickled radish. It honestly hit so good that I finished it in less than 15 minutes. I ordered it to go but I’m so happy I ate it then and there while it was crispy!

At first glance, I thought the curry was too soupy. Two bites in, it just works!
I had the minced beef cutlet curry. The flavor was good but I would level up on the spice next time. Regular was a warm cinnamony spice, no heat.

Update 01/16/2026: Went at least two times since my last review and the service and food has improved significantly! Same workers, same location – thank you Coco Ichibanya for taking feedback. We will continue to dine at this location frequently and bring friends. For those reading this review, don’t skip out on the jumbo Thai tea!!

My partner and I are frequent diners at this location. We like how the food is consistent, affordable, and generously portioned. We dined when the location first open and service was slow. But we were lenient with the fact that they just opened up. However, over time the service seems to be getting slower. We planned to watch a movie and allotted over an hour to eat knowing how slow service is. We waited over 45 minutes and decided to get the food To Go to not miss the movie. I’d like to give this location a higher rating, but the workers seem to forget simple things like taking orders or giving the bill. We will continue to eat at this location with hopes the workers have better training.

Very disappointed! Curry sauce runny no flavor, not thickened like usual in the Torrance branch. I went to Aliso Viejo branch just now, thinking the same curry sauce I enjoyed with another branch. Chicken was good but the sauce was lousy. I come here for the sauce, hense Curry restaurant!

I’m glad and excited that a new CocoIchi is so close! We ordered both Keema and Keema omelet with sides of fries and tonkatsu. As well as an order of Keema curry to go. Both sides were freshly made and hot. Unfortunately, the main dishes were not. The rice was warm, at best, and the curry was lukewarm / tepid. I just returned from Japan about 5 weeks ago. No matter what time of day, when you order ANYTHING from CocoIchi in Japan, EVERYTHING is served piping hot. The rice, the curry, and the tonkatsu all seem freshly made. I hope this changes soon because I just invited 6 friends from Northern California to come and enjoy Keema Curry – which is no longer available in Japan. When we first arrived at 5:15 pm, service was a little slow with only two staff members available to manage customers. The table next to ours had yet to order when we flagged down a waitress to take our order. Service improved with additional staff arriving around 5:30 + pm. That was a good thing because by 6:00 pm, customers were lined up outside waiting to get a table.
IF the temperature of the food doesn’t improve, I recommend ordering carry-out, taking it home, and warming the food at home. If that has to happen, my visits will be far less. BTW, although the food is customizable, every addition is charged extra.

I love Coco Curry. The staff is polite and seemed very attentive. The restaurant is clean and modern, a major improvement from the Irvine location. The main issue is a car parked in front of the restaurant and blinded everyone with its headlights for over 20 minutes and nothing could be done about it because the door is see-through. Please add a shade to the door or some kind of sign in front of the restaurant to block headlights from blinding your customers :'( Also maybe a bench outside would be helpful for customers who are waiting to get in.
