The atmosphere at SS Dion is nothing short of delightful. Nestled in a calm and inviting setting, the restaurant exudes a serene charm perfect for a relaxed evening out. Despite arriving earlier than our 4:30 PM reservation, we were graciously accommodated by the hostess at 4:00 PM, a testament to their attentiveness. Today, on the eve of Thanksgiving, the space maintained a low-key, tranquil vibe. Its balance of affordability and sophistication makes it an attractive option for diners seeking a budget-friendly yet high-end dining experience.
Customer service is where the restaurant truly shines. Our waitress, Megan, was nothing short of exceptional. Her attentiveness was evident throughout our meal as she ensured that every course met our expectations. She thoughtfully refilled our water, expedited food delivery, and offered insightful menu recommendations. Megan’s friendly demeanor and dedication elevated the entire dining experience—a clear standout in hospitality. She unquestionably deserves recognition for her impeccable service.
The complimentary bread served upon arrival was a delightful beginning. Soft and fresh, it paired wonderfully with the butter and spicy sauce, setting a promising tone.
The highlight of the meal was unequivocally the chicken wings. These were among the best I’ve ever had—tender, fall-off-the-bone meat bursting with flavor. They easily earned a perfect 5/5, showcasing the kitchen’s potential for excellence.
We opted for the sirloin steak, accompanied by pasta with marinara sauce and fries. The steak was cooked to perfection as requested — Medium rare. While the accompanying mushrooms & sauce were rich and flavorful, the blue cheese addition was overpowering and similarly disagreeable. The pasta, however, redeemed itself with simplicity and consistency, earning a solid 4/5. The fries were crispy, perfectly seasoned, and equally deserving of a 4/5 rating.
I will definitely be back but for their seafood options.
Update: Came back for dinner. Dinner service was excellent. The burger was absolutely delicious as was the New Bedford scallops. Will be back again!
