Great atmosphere if you’re in the area, of course it’s kind of off the beaten path. The people here are great and the server was to. If you’re looking for some good food we had the jerk chicken and the Smashburger and both were great. Interesting thing about the burger is that they don’t temp it they serve it one way. They had live music going which is always a plus! Definitely check this place out.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. The dinner crowd had not arrived yet so we were able to get seated right away. Our server was very polite and let us know about the daily specials. We ordered our drinks and they were promptly delivered. Our server took our orders and they were out in no time at all. My wife had seafood scampi that was loaded with clams, mussels and shrimp. I had a crab cake cheese steak. The crab cake was humongous and about 99% crabmeat. It came with fries and a side serving of Old Bay remoulade. Everything was excellent. I’m we decided to stop in. We don’t get down this way too often, but it’s definitely worth the trip. Beautiful scenery and views of the Cohansey River just outside the windows. There is also a separate outdoor bar. .

I came for crab cakes but the shrimp tacos stole my heart. We arrived at sunset after a quiet drive through the swamp to the buzz of a band playing live music and orange hues lighting up the docks through our car windows. As soon as we open the car doors, we realized that the buzz was in fact human-eating flies likely evolved after decades of living too close to the nuclear plant. After battling said gnats while my toddler lost her shoes on the way in, we were beyond starving and carrying the battle scars of carnivorous flies. Thankfully, the friendly atmosphere and aromas satiated our nerves long enough to browse the tasteful menu. After tasting the menu, even my one year old thought everything was delectable! The tacos were definitely top-notch and win for culinary creativity, the crabby fries were actually quite amicable when eaten, and their succulent flavor was a gracious compliment to any entree. The pizza was satisfactory and the Alfredo and palatable although it lacked in the waves of flavor that the other dishes possessed. This is definitely a gem of south Jersey and well worth the drive….. possibly even worth risking life and limb through the gauntlet of gnats.

The location, atmosphere and service were fantastic. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were very expensive and not great. For $26, an entree should at least come with a salad. We will return, but will be sticking to beer and sandwiches.

Went back last night- my Mom and StepDad are both sick with stomach issues today.
I was the only one happy with my meal, but I just had a salad.

Great time at the Bait Box! We sat outside under the Pavillion and had a great meal. I got the briskit nachos and my wife got the summer berry salad. Both were very good. I dont like berries and i actually liked hers..lol
I had a mermaid drink from the bar and it was great. Very tropical. Live music was playing and made for a great atmosphere.
Also know that this is a DOG FRIENDLY establishment. I wish i knew cuz i definitely would have brought him with us!
When the mosquitoes came out, after dark they came around with citronella candles and offers of free bug spray if you wanted it.
The wait staff was phenomenal and very very attentive.
Overall a 5* experience! Highly recommended!

Came to this spot with our family. It’s a cute restaurant nestled in the middle of no where. Lots of boats and a brand new bar.

We opted to sit inside due to weather and it was fairly empty. Server was nice and friendly and quickly sat us and provided drinks. Overall it was a fun experience with great atmosphere. We split a chicken sandwich and bait box salad. The sandwich was yummy with a nice thin piece of chicken. The salad was delicious with fresh pecans and blue cheese crumbles.

Skip wings get boom boom shrimp if you’re looking at apps.

Overall decent food and good experience. Some dishes seemed expensive.

We were searching for a historical area to tour around and ended up out in the middle of nowhere, not quite what we had in mind. However we didn’t want the entire road trip to be a bus and so we looked up local places to sit down and catch a bite to eat. We found this restaurant located on the shore of Cohancy River out in the middle of nowhere in New Jersey. There’s nothing out there, literally. The only things that we could find were just fields and fields of growing corn. It was actually rather surprising to find a restaurant like this! When we first arrived, we saw a bunch of all the boats that were stored on the lot which gave it a pretty authentic but eccentric vibe. Sort of like an old junkyard but for boats. It was very unique. You can’t really judge a book by the cover and so pulling into the lot further we found the restaurant. It was actually very similar to that I have a boating club. Inside, it had a “Margaritaville” like setting, And during the time of day that we arrived it was pretty empty. However outside they had a bar area set up, and there was a stage with a band getting ready to play live. We even had a very unique style bar which was made out of an old boat. They had little areas make bonfires and really cool areas to sit down around them. In the river there were a lot of other boats with boat owners just relaxing. It’s really a nice atmosphere and I truly enjoyed the restaurant and it’s set up itself. A really good point was that their dessert was rather tasty. They had a really great chocolate cake. Their drinks were also pretty awesome. I had a mai tai. The service was also rather quick but to be honest with you the only negative thing about the restaurant was the menu. I ordered some kind of shrimp spaghetti stuff and I didn’t really enjoy it. Just seem like a bunch of egg noodles with some spaghetti and clam sauce slept in there with some shrimp. Other than that I think it was pretty good experience and worth going to. You just have to be very careful what you order. I think they had some really great selections of steak and shrimp as well as any other fish and some burgers that would probably very worth trying. Overall I really loved this restaurant.

Very cool local nook to eat/drink near the bay!! You can pull your boat up dockside from the Cohansey River and grab a bite. We had a great date night and ate outside at the picnic tables by the outside tiki bar. Great selection of draft beers. Absolutely loved the stuffed pineapple poke bowl appetizer. Highly recommend!

Stopped in today for first time and will definitely be back. Small but solid craft beer selection, excellent food and the service was outstanding. Wish I got our servers name (8/3 1pm outside) but she was awesome.

There was no wait for a table but after ordering it took a half hour to get my food. And the place wasn’t even busy. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi off of a very limited menu. Was hoping for some fried shrimp but that wasn’t an option. First my ice tea came and that tasted strange. When the shrimp came it was nothing like any shrimp scampi I ever had. The noodles were tough and under cooked. The shellfish was so tiny you could have missed it. At least the shrimp was good. All in all a terrible meal. Quite disappointing
