Many reviews are based on personal taste, here are my thoughts to determine if this is a good fit for you! My husband and I had an amazing lunch here. The food was unique and had some flavorful profiles. The turkey club was amazing as was the cranberry orange marmalade sauce with it. I had the sweet pepper/ tomato soup which I was afraid would be too spicy and to my surprise was just incredibly seasoned and warming on the cold day. The toasted cheesy garlic bread accompanying it was so tasty. The chef came out to check how we liked our meal. We all agreed that his spiral fries should be the standard with every sandwich… so good. It sounds like the menu is continuing to evolve and be adapted, especially the lunch so that people can get in, order and be out in quick time. If you like meat and potatoes with little seasoning, this is not your place but if you like flavorful, unique choices… try it out! The setting is an incredible relaxed lounge atmosphere with casual seating or high top chairs. My only comment would be that the lack of regular height chairs could be challenging for some individuals.

This place. What can I say, Nothing short of phenomenal. Lobster bowl…was the best. This is a nice little niche of a restaurant, chic, modern, and plays with all five senses. Owners are great, bartenders great, and chef has got it figured out. Get there.

I was really impressed by this place! It has a great atmosphere and the bartenders were really friendly. The jalapeño poppers were amazing! I really enjoyed their holiday drinks too. I will be returning on my next visit to town.

So very impressed with everything these new young owners have put together!!! The vibe was very upbeat and casual. We enjoyed ourselves very much! All the servers were so excited and proud to be part of this new experience and offering to Wausau and the general area. Phil and Justin’s place will do very well. I highly recommend you visit this wonderful establishment!!!
The only reason Service does not have five stars is because they are brand new and they’re just getting their processes down. These people behind the bar are so nice and considerate and kind! They are all so excited to be your servers Wausau! The drinks were out of this world, great, and off the charts yummy!
My husband and I each had one of their famous sammy”s. I had the chicken buffalo and husband had a Da beef ribeye shaved Sammy. The flavors of the sauces and the combinations of everything were out of this world! Best food in town as far as I’m concerned. Not that I get around to every establishment, but I’ve been around to enough to know Davin’s chef selections are phenomenal! His attention to details and exceptional ingredients is so evident.
Everything was priced to represent the overall quality of what we were served and very comparable to other establishments in town. Not cheap but not expensive either.
TV’s have been added through the establishment. We watched the Brewer Cub game. The overall vibe was upbeat and comfortable.
We will be regulars!!!

We shared the loaded pork belly tator tots made with their own homemade beer cheese sauce! (2 of us couldn’t finish it!) Let me tell you what, they were DELICIOUS!
While my hubby enjoyed a few excellent bourbons, I tried their Tom & Jerry that they make fresh every day! We were out looking for a new traditional Tom & Jerry for the weekend after Thanksgiving and we found the best in town! I also had a brandy slush they make and that was very good also.
Such friendly staff, both owners were actually there and both were working in the bar. I tried a few more of their holiday cocktails and love the quality of the liquors and other ingredients they use. Very warm and friendly atmosphere. Will be frequenting this establishment for certain. It’s not a typical bar setting. Relaxing, low noise level, clean, beautifully decorated, and attentive owners and bartenders. They have an extremely, highly qualified chef working there, can’t go wrong with any food item.

This was their opening night. This was one of the best opening nights I’ve been to. Very large bourbon selection. The appetizers were very good. Solid beer selection.

Food was good. Drinks were delicious. And barstaff were friendly and efficient. Definitely had a mixup on our dinner order. Maybe it was just an off moment/night, but a little more organization in that regard would benefit both the diners and the staff.

We went for the soft opening at J&P’s Tippling House and it was an incredible experience from start to finish! It was amazing when it was The Lounge and it’s just as amazing now as J&P’s!!!!
The service was top-notch! Everyone was friendly, attentive, and you could feel the genuine warmth from both the staff and the owners. The whole establishment has such a welcoming ambiance, and the place is spotless. To top it off, the building has the most amazing, almost addictive smell when you walk in…sets the mood immediately.
The chefs clearly know what they’re doing; the food was absolutely outstanding.
Executive Chef Davin’s talent and creativity shine through in every dish. You can tell he has a true passion for flavor and presentation, each plate was perfectly executed and unforgettable. Sous Chef Tez has the best flavor profile around! I am so glad the owners brought them back! It wouldn’t be the same without them.
We tried the wings, which were juicy, crispy, and perfectly seasoned (honestly didn’t even need sauce). The onion rings were crunchy with the perfect bite, no sliding onions here! And the loaded tots with beer cheese and candied pork belly… absolutely to die for. Not a single bite was left on our plates. The food looked so good we didn’t even pause to take a picture before digging in.
We can’t wait to come back for the full menu, seasonal drink specials, and of course for football season! This is going to be the spot. J&P’s Tippling House is a true gem, and we’re already excited for our next visit!

We met another couple in Wausau as we live on opposite sides of Wisconsin. Lea at J&Ps was very attentive. The place is really great, the service was excellent and the food was delicious. Don’t hesitate to give this place a try. We spent more than most because we were there quite a while. The prices are very reasonable.

we absolutely loved our visit on opening night. the service was prompt, the food was outstanding, and we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. all of the staff was amazing but our main server Lexi was outstanding. she was greeting everyone as they walked in, noticed everyone needing a drink, and her banter with us as customers was so much fun. coming back tomorrow in hopes of another espresso martini from her. fantastic place and can’t wait to stop in more often!
