Chicken galore.

Service and atmosphere:
Service at a register where you place order and pay was unfortunately unprofessional and not helpful. When we asked question about an item on the menu, the reply we got was “what?”. Not a great start.
The restaurant is big. It offers inside and outside seating. The tables inside were dirty and needed TLC.
First impression always counts and based on that I would not recommend this place.

Food and drinks:
Good selection of different dishes with chicken being the hero. The food we ordered was good. Chicken was tender and well seasoned. Corn on the cob and salad were equally good. This was a positive experience.
You can accompany your food with soft or alcoholic beverages.

Pricing:
$$ – the food was not overpriced.

Girl working the register had a great attitude and was welcoming. That’s a good start –
Since it was my first time here I went with the flagship Half Bird , which was a very generous serving of protein , ranch style beans, a cilantro lime rice , grilled onions and jalapeño , and 4 corn tortillas ( flour available).
The chicken was smoked well with a delicious seasoned skin and was incredibly juicy. Rice was good but the beans stood out more. The corn tortillas were actually fairly large – larger than a standard street taco size corn tortilla.
There is a salsa bar with at least 5 options. I tried all of them and they were delicious . At one point I started sweating – it’s hard to tell which was the spicy one because I was mixing them all together haha.
Indoor of the restaurant was very clean , and what I could the kitchen looked well maintained as well. There is also outdoor seating.
The prices I thought were very reasonable given the area the location is ( a little on the higher end , but still family friendly ).

Parking can be found on street in marked spots , but it looked there was a larger lot behind the establishment.

All in all I’d definitely visit here again on my next business trip to H-Town, and I look forward to trying other menu items.

Found this place on Google Maps and stopped by on a Sunday around 4:30 PM. There was not a lot of people and sitting was easy. We got the family pack Pollo al Carbon and a side order of esquite. It was enough food for two adults and two kids. The food was really good. They have a self serve salsa bar. The salsas were VERY good. There’s an indoor and outdoor sitting area. There’s a grass area next door for kids and dogs to play in. Overall a really good experience.

We looooved pollo al carbon!! We tried sitting outside in the patio. It look so welcomed and it had that Saturday vibe of just chill. And when our food got to us I was like,” let’s go in I don’t want my food to get cold” so we sat by window /booth. Then we had the best chicken we’ve had in a while! The seasoning was flavorful and moist. I added avocado to our half a chicken al carbon order. We had the cilantro rice and beans for sides which were good too. But overall the chicken was amazing!!!

I’ve eaten here a few times in person and also had take out multiple times. The quality and service is always consistent. Love to get the elote, #8 carnitas taco and the agua fresca! I’ve heard a lot about the half chicken so that is on my list!

Their patio is really nice and even if you sit inside you get an outside feel with the floor to ceiling windows. Staff is very friendly and while you can get most everything yourself they offer to bring refills and salsas to you also.

I especially like that they have the walk up window for pick ups. Makes it so easy to grab and go.

Little Rey catered an event here at Bonobos in Highland Village and the food was so great our clients loved the queso and flautas. The set up the catering department left was also very well done and presented! Thank you so much for helping make our event a success. Our staff also has it as a regular for our lunch breaks and store meetings.

This restaurant was amazing and a very great place to eat out in the weekends! Meat is wood-smoked and they never compromise their quality and taste! Consists of make your own salsa bar, which you can get unlimited options there! Portions for the price are decent and are very delicious. Meat is surprisingly served well! Waiter is very nice/friendly and our food got here in less than ten minutes! I owe them one!

Only downside is that they use soybean oil in their fried products (for the fries and their corn tortillas). Wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking for a seed oil-free place to eat at. I’m not sure if they got flour tortillas as an option, but everything else was smoked in wood. Nice!

Love the food here, concept is great. Salsa bar is yummy. The management is always walking around active and asking how everything’s going. It is always cold inside though fyi! Lol. The white guy that works the front counter clearly does not want to work that role; it feels like you’re bothering him by ordering food,… lol it’s not an ideal way to begin the experience but otherwise the food is good and I’ll continue to return.

This was our first time trying Little Rey, and we had a great experience! We went on a Sunday morning when it wasn’t too busy, so we had time to check out the menu without feeling rushed. Not sure what to get, we ordered a mix of different things—hot cakes, huevos rancheros, fried plantains, and corn esquites.

Right away, we noticed how clean and spacious the restaurant was. The customer service was outstanding—the staff walked us through the ordering process, we paid, sat down, and they brought out our food promptly. The presentation was great, and everything looked amazing.

One of the highlights of our visit was the incredible hospitality. After we sat down, they even offered us some extra chips and dip for free, which was such a nice touch. The entire staff was friendly, and they even made sure to clean up quickly after guests left, keeping the space tidy.

As for the food—everything was delicious, but the huevos rancheros were the standout for me!

Overall, fantastic service, great food, and a welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be coming back!
