What a pleasant surprise. My children and I had dinner here last night and the food was really good. I enjoyed the spinach spaghetti, with shrimp and asparagus in lemon sauce. Yummy. We also had the calamari, pizza, penne vodka sauce. Everything was good. Our server was a sweet heart. The atmosphere was a little dark and we were sat near a door so we felt the draft constantly. That was the only con for us. Other than that, I would definitely recommend and I would return. FYI, they only accept cash or Amex.

This place ONLY accepts American Express credit cards or Cash only. I did not realize this until I was already seated and I had already placed my drink order. It is on the menu, but if you don’t look, you may miss it. Just because of that, I will not return. In my honest opinion that’s kind of weird that they only accept American Express. Yes they do have an ATM in their restaurant so you could withdraw cash but I didn’t really wanna worry about ATM fees. Luckily a bank I use is close by so I was able to go withdraw cash from there. If I had realized this beforehand, I would have not dined in at this restaurant. Luckily, my sister had offered to run to the bank to withdraw the cash and I’m glad that our waiter was patient while we went to our bank to get cash. As for the food, it isn’t worth the headache of having to get cash or worry if you have an American Express card. The Margherita pizza we ordered looked like a cheese pizza. I mean the cheese pizza was good but when I imagined a Margherita pizza, I had a different type of pizza in mind. Unless there are different versions of Margherita pizza. I ordered the antipasto salad which wasn’t too bad. I enjoyed my salad for the most part. My sister got the Penne Alla Vodka and our friend got the Alfredo pasta. We all agreed that the food was average and the pricing is pretty reasonable. Overall, would I return? Probably not just because of the American Express and cash only payment option. It isn’t really worth it in that case. But I will admit the service was awesome and the people were definitely friendly.

i had to write this review while still in the location since it deserves it… everything we ordered… well maybe not the pizza which was still good and fresh… the pappardella con gamberi was a new and surprisingly delicious taste profile for us… i forgot what the other one was but was also great… the calamari i almost ordered another serving… oh by the way… just fyi… they only accept american express as we’ve been told…

Friday night dinner
Of course we needed a reservation
Good atmosphere, BYO
We sat inside but there is also outdoor seating.

There was some live entertainment outdoors.

We had the Rigatoni Siciliano , a Meatball Pie and the Veal

The service and food was very good.

Great Italian food and old school service. All kinds of dishes were ordered and everyone liked theirs a lot. I had pork loin stuffed with broccoli rabe and mushrooms. Wife had the mushroom ravioli which she loved. Delicious. The salads were very good as was the garlic shrimp and pizza as an appetizer (why not).

The Brick Oven is a small, intimate restaurant with a warm and cozy interior. The lighting sets the mood and the restaurant has an interesting multi-level dining area with one section being raised up. I really admire the unique layout.
Complimentary bread came with the meal. It’s perfectly fluffy and light so it won’t fill you up too quickly before the main course. The pizza is phenomenal. The crust is perfectly thin. The sauce is light and sweet with good ratios to the fresh, greasy cheese. I really enjoyed the pizza. The staff was also quite friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend enjoying a pleasant dinner at this spot.

Cabbage carrots, a little bit of bean and pasta that is not Mr. Jones soup… This is basically cabbage soup for $10.50

BYO. Great outdoor seating. Great food. Especially on a Tuesday night in the summer – it’s the best location to dine while enjoying the live music. They take reservations if you call ahead.

Pros:
– waitstaff was very friendly
– ambiance/interior was nice and fitting for a potentially lovely dinner
– BYOB
– bread came out warm and butter was softened already

Cons:
– paid $14 for the worst mussels I’ve ever had in my life. The “white sauce” was bland and I was munching on sand every other bite. The mussels themselves did not look great either.
– worst $26 I’ve ever spent on pasta while dining out ever. I got the “special” which touted a white sauce with hints of tomato or something along those lines and I got tomato broth instead
– bf hated his pasta also
– only accepts American Express, otherwise would need to run to an ATM or use theirs

Verdict: probably will not go back. Partially our fault for buying pasta and not pizza at a place with Brick Oven in its name, but final bill just left a really bad taste in our mouth given how utterly deplorable the food was

I want to give these guys the benefit of the doubt that maybe tonight was an off night, but I have to say our experience was less than satisfactory. Our server was very inattentive and there was a very long wait from when we placed our order to when the food finally arrived. My wife had the chicken special, and I had ordered the pasta with bolognese sauce. My wife enjoyed her chicken, and it was served hot and tasty, however the bolognese tonight was a disaster. The sauce was more like soup and I would think normally when you prepare a bolognese you skim some of the fat from the sauce as to make it appear less greasy, not tonight my bolognese soup “separated” into what was the meat sauce and what was the grease, not very appetizing. The only saving grace to this meal was the spinach pasta that was cooked to perfection. Oh and if the owner reads this, come on in today’s day and age who only accepts Amex ?
