I have visited this Cafe once and ordered from them multiple times. First off, the only restaurant that packs dosa right. Just for that you would want to order from them. Next, their specialty dosas are very tasty. I do not in general like complicated dosas but the ones like pav bhai, paneer, bhandi etc are quite good. Other items are tasty as well. Their chutneys are great while sambhar is decent. Would definitely keep ordering/visiting. Recommend this place for everyone that would like slightly different yet tasty takes on dosas.

ID Cafe is a great place that offers unique twists on traditional dishes like idly and dosa, winning your stomach over with delightful flavors.
While their order-taking can be slow, the food is served quickly, making up for it.

It’s a wholesome spot with a twist on South Indian flavors that’s definitely worth checking out.

A good place to try your favorite South Indian food. I liked that they have signature offerings that isn’t available in other similar restaurants around. Taste wise, the signature dosas like Mumbai Jini Dosa and Paneer Tikka Dosa were good. We liked the tiffin combo as well.

They have a cozy ambience and outdoor dining as well.

My suggestion is to work on the sambhar taste as it felt sweeter instead of spicier, and to increase the Dosa size to some extent to match it with the price level.

Excellent ambience and cuisine. The bite-sized batata vada was delicious and was cooked to perfection! The Mumbai Jini dosa was superb. Also the pav bhaji idly was excellent!!

The menu is misleading because I assumed the pav bhaji idly would also include chutneys and sambar. It didn’t, though. The tikka fries didn’t appeal to me either. The tikka masala lacked salt and was sugary.

You can take a Hyderabadi out of Hyderabad, but you can’t take Hyderabad out of a Hyderabadi! As someone who’s always craving that authentic South Indian flavor, especially Hyderabadi-style, I’ve been on the hunt for something that takes me back home. Finally, my search ended with Idli Dosa Cafe, and I must say, it came very close to hitting the mark.

Let’s start with the ambiance—it’s a notch above the usual South Indian cafes in the area. The open seating is a personal favorite, especially with the string lights hanging above. I can only imagine how magical the vibe would be at night, with the lights adding a cozy yet lively feel.

The dosas here are truly reminiscent of what you’d find in Hyderabad. They’re smeared with all the good stuff—upma, special garlic chutney, karam podi, cheese, butter, paneer, onions, tomatoes, and more. I’ve tried almost all their special varieties, and each dosa has its own charm.

Vijayawada Paneer Dosa was an absolute standout. The flavors were bold and fiery, with chunky, tender paneer cubes coated in a sauce that added the perfect balance of heat and tang. The dosa itself was crispy on the edges and soft in the middle, complementing the spiced paneer filling beautifully. It’s the kind of dosa that leaves a lingering kick of spice, and I couldn’t get enough of it.

Jini Dosa was a delightful surprise, with Amul cheese giving it that comforting homely touch, mixed with crunchy peppers for a Mumbai street food vibe.

Hyderabadi Bandi Dosa was exactly what the name promises—upma, garlic chutney, karam podi, and loads of butter. It instantly reminded me of those bandis back in Hyderabad.

The Matka Dosa was both a visual and culinary treat. The cheesy masala on top of the dosa looked amazing, and serving more masala in a little matka on the side was such a nice touch.

The sambar here deserves a special mention—rich, flavorful, and comforting. The chutneys, while good, left me longing for that peculiar Hyderabadi-style peanut chutney. That said, the mint chutney was refreshingly flavorful.

Coming to the idlis, I noticed a big improvement from my last visit—they’re much softer now and have that lovely grainy texture. The Idli 65 deserves a special shoutout. It’s fried perfectly, sautéed in a spicy curry, and honestly, I couldn’t stop eating it. Definitely a must-try if you visit.

For anyone like me who’s missing the flavors of home, Idli Dosa Cafe is a great spot to check out. While my hunt for the perfect peanut chutney continues, I’ll be coming back here for their dosas, that addictive Idli 65, and of course, the vibe of their lovely open seating at night

The reviews are over the top which makes me question their authenticity. The food was just ok. The soup that comes with the dosa meal was delicious. Let me clarify that — the broth was tasty. The veggies in the soup were overcooked. The speciality Hyderabad Bandi dosa was blah. I didn’t finish it. Most likely they use a restaurant supplier [i.e. Sysco], which means canned, packaged and less flavor quality in general]. The chai was good but came in a tiny paper cup for $4! What really bothered me was their logo claiming “fresh and healthy” but in reality everything came in plastic! And I mean everything from the tray the food was served on to the water cup and even the water pitcher! There’s nothing healthy about plastic and it’s been proven we’re all ingesting a lot of micro plastics. On top of that, the service is slow. There was only one server, a very young guy on the floor doing everything. Even though I was one of the few customers in the cafe, things were still slow but he had time to watch cartoons while doing side work. But what did I expect from a mall restaurant?

As I sauntered into ID Cafe nestled within the confines of Pleasanton’s Stoneridge Mall, my senses were immediately titillated by the promise of culinary delights. With an air of anticipation, I embarked on a gastronomic journey that would leave a lasting impression.

First on the menu was the Hyderabad Bandi Dosa, a tantalizing dish that danced upon my taste buds with its intricate blend of spices and textures. Each bite was a symphony of flavor, transporting me to the bustling streets of India’s culinary heartland.

Following closely behind was the Sambar Idly, a humble yet delectable offering that showcased the chef’s mastery of traditional South Indian fare. The soft, pillowy idlis bathed in rich sambar were a testament to the timeless art of culinary craftsmanship.

And let us not forget the Masala Fries, a delightful twist on a beloved classic. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, each fry was generously coated in a fragrant masala blend that elevated it to new heights of indulgence.

But it was not only the food that left me impressed. The service at ID Cafe was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring that every need was met with a smile. As I savored my meal in the serene ambiance of the outdoor patio, I couldn’t help but marvel at the seamless harmony between culinary excellence and impeccable hospitality.

In conclusion, ID Cafe at Stoneridge Mall is not just a place to satisfy one’s hunger; it is an oasis of culinary bliss where each dish tells a story and each bite ignites the senses. Whether you’re a connoisseur of Indian cuisine or simply seeking a memorable dining experience, ID Cafe is sure to exceed your expectations with its blend of stoic charm and gastronomic delight.

Decided to try this place out after reading all the reviews.

They have indoor and outdoor seating. I found outdoor more peaceful but as it was a big chilly we sat inside.

A little slow when coming to getting people seated. When asked for water, waitress got 2 filled water goblets and one empty. It was confusing as they wanted to us to fill the 3rd one.

We ordered
Vada sambar 7/10. Sambar had too much pepper
Punugulu 10/10. Nice texture and crispy. It was well cooked from inside too.
Hyderabadi bandi dosa 7/10. It was ok. Will I order again?? Not really.
Mumbai pav bhaji dosa 9/10. It was better than bandi dosa. Minus 1 as it felt they added chilli powder on the top to make it spicy. Could feel the raw chilli powder taste.
Ghee dosa 10/10. It was dripping with ghee. Crispy and well made.
Mango lassi – 8/10.

The chutneys were very tasty. Peanut, tomato, green one were all perfect.

Will definitely visit again to try the other items on the menu.

PS
Tried this for the first time while I was close by and the experience was amazing. It’s right next to CPK , with enough seating indoors and outdoors. The place was clean and toilets specially very clean .
We had masala dosa , Mysore masala dosa , idlis , vadas , samosas , Ashoka halva and filter coffee , everything was delicious and made with flavor and perfection.
Liked the food so much that we brought home more .
Our server was friendly and front desk girl , Niharika was kind n smiling ….. had a great time , highly recommend.
One small piece of advice , if they could use curry leaves chopped , it won’t get into other veggies in the sambhar. The chutneys were delicious too.

ID Cafe took me by surprise. I was a firm believer that Dosa must be eaten in its pure form but wanted to give ID cafe a try. The ambiance is peppy and showcases the restaurant’s love for Dosa. We tried the Vijayawada Paneer Dosa and the Chilli Cheese Dosa on a weekend for lunch. The Dosas were crispy and came with sambhar and 3 types of chutney – coconut, tomato and peanut. Sambhar was very tasty and truely south indian. Loved it. Next was the coconut chutney. Very fresh. The chilli cheese Dosa was almost like cheese pizza. I would suggest the restaurant to tone down a bit on the cheese and add more chilli to make it a true chilli cheese dosa and not just cheese dosa. The paneer Dosa and huge and quite heavy. It tasted good, but because the stuffing was so much, I might skip it next time. We also ordered the Cocoa mysore pak with Chikoo ice cream. The mysore pak was fresh, filled with ghee and grainy. Did not get the Cocoa flavor in it, though, and also did not understand the combination with Chikoo ice cream. The ice cream also lacked the Chikoo flavor. But overall, since the mysore pak was delicious, I will rate the dessert 4 out of 5. Stoneridge Mall lacked an Indian restaurant, and this will definitely please the Indian and non-Indian diaspora in trivalley shopping in and around Stoneridge mall. I’m curious to try the curry leaves Idly. Will definitely visit the place again. Good place if u want to try both vegetarian and non-veg varieties of Dosas and Idly.
