The service was ok, nothing terrible, yet nothing spectacular. The food prices were a bit high for the quality but again, nothing terrible.
The milkshakes were great. A little runny and a tad artificial, but still enjoyable.
We got regular burgers and veggie burgers. The veggie burgers were delicious but at the same time a bit mushy, but still enjoyable. We tried all the fries (regular, curly, sweet potatoes). The oil didn’t seem fresh, but again we still enjoyed it.
We will come again but probably just for the ice cream and sweet treats.

Back in the 80s, Hagens was called Merlinos. We loved the orange freeze, strawberry, lemon, and even the orange metza, which was the orange freeze with fresh orange juice. So many good memories of eating the delicious freeze in the 100 degree heat of summer!

Today Hagens is as good as Merlinos was. They have a lot more flavors now, but my favorite is still orange and strawberry. If you’re in the Carmichael area, give it a try!!

Went today for the first time and ordered a medium watermelon freeze and medium chocolate mint milkshake. The total price was around $26 and I noticed I was charged $16 for my watermelon freeze after I has already swiped my card, so I assumed it was more expensive being a freeze. Without the prices posted online, I’m assuming I was charged twice for the same drink, as I saw someone else mention she paid $8 for a medium freeze.

After driving off to my next destination, I then noticed a brown hair on the inside at the bottom of my drink and had to toss my $16 drink out completely. I was disappointed because it was delicious and I had already looked passed being charged double for my drink at that point.

Both drinks tasted great and the customer service was great, so I’m still leaving 4 stars. But being double charged and then having to throw away an entire drink was the disappointment.

I’ve always enjoyed coming here—their ice cream and freezes are amazing, and the food has usually been great. In the past when I’ve picked up food late, the staff (especially the gentlemen who work there) were always kind enough to help remake it or at least make sure I was taken care of, which I truly appreciated. However, my last visit was very disappointing. I arrived about an hour late to pick up a burger due to work, and I completely understood that the food might not be fresh. One of the gentlemen seemed willing to help, but an older lady cut in and rudely said, “oh well she shouldn’t have come an hour ago,” and kept making unnecessary comments in front of me. It felt very disrespectful and unprofessional. I left with the cold food anyways, but honestly she left a bad impression. A little respect and customer service go a long way—I hope management addresses this, because it’s not okay to treat paying customers like that.

Hagan’s freezes are the best! The original orange freeze is a popular flavor, but many other flavors to choose from. Lots of ice cream choices as well. If your hungry they have a variety of comfort food burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, sweet potatoe fries, the place is small and cozy, food does take awhile to prepare and prices are a little high, but still worth it.

Edit: I did leave the comment below but after that, we came back for their patty melts which used to be the best, and they were horrible and I left a very detailed account of how horrible it was. The owner commented and said he was sorry and would like to try and make it right so I just came to look and they deleted my entire negative review about how the place is no longer as good as it used to be and put my comment about the best fruit ices in town at the top! I am changing this review too because if a restaurant can’t handle the truth, they shouldn’t be able to delete it. So any chance of going back to see if they would fix the problem is moot. That’s underhanded and low and not a service to your customers. Bad on you Hagen’s.

“Best fruit ices in town.”

It’s a very good place: it’s cozy and delicious.
We ate a hamburger, a cheeseburger, curly fries, and ice cream. I won’t say it was the best food of my life, but it’s definitely good cuisine and friendly staff.
I recommend it.

I really liked the burger and fries especially the shake I got. Kinda pricey but it’s worth it + there was a cute snow bunny working the register ❤️ I’m definitely coming back

85/100. As a lover of diners, this is probably one of the better ones I’ve had the pleasure of trying. I went in with pretty average expectations and genuinely enjoyed my meal. Sadly they were out of onion rings when I went to order the Hagen Burger combo (#3), so I wasn’t able to have a full experience quite yet but enjoyed it nonetheless!

The burger to topping ratio was perfect, the meat was cooked well though I couldn’t discern any specific seasonings from it, and the toppings were all wonderfully fresh tasting; no warm tomatoes or soggy buns here! The french fries were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, as well as being lightly salted for those worried about sodium. You also get a small drink with free refills on soda, which is a massive plus in my book.

So, why only an 85? There isn’t anything particular about this meal that stuck out to me and at $17.98 after taxes, it felt like it was missing something else. Additionally, it feels pretty empty and quiet when dining inside the building when there arent many customers though that might be a plus to some others. My last note brings me back to the meal, specifically the burger. I ADORE a good burger and regularly seek out good restaurants with great burgers, but this just didnt stand out at all. By no means do I think it was a bad burger, I just don’t think I’d say its a fantastic one.

Don’t always trust the hype in reviews. Ordered a mushroom swiss burger and a cheeseburger, they both tasted burnt and just lacked any flavor or love. Also ordered a strawberry guava and orange freeze, just too sweet. The atmosphere was okay just seems like a lot of old folks come into relive memories. The only nice employee was a young lady that was working today, meanwhile the man that took my order just seemed bored and out of place being there and had a monotone voice. Also very expensive for the lack of quality that you’re receiving, I honestly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
