We drove to Rusk with our son who was visiting us from San Antonio. He’s an Astros fan. The food was so good, but the people were amazing! The owner was so kind and answered any questions we had. I would definitely recommend this place.

My 1st time here. Very clean inside despite a WHOLE BUNCH of Houston Astros memorabilia. Visually rich collection of all things Astros.
The pork ribs served in my 1 meat plate were super tasty and a good portion. There was an almost discernible crisp in the sweet coating of these ribs. Meaty and tender. Potato salad appeared to be home made but like the beans, the flavors were OK. It will be nice to see some sides with a little pizzazz in them. That said, the meat is the focus in bbq and I expect their other meats will wow me upon future visits.
Employees were cordial and worked efficiently.

Great service and very friendly staff. Very polite and quick to acknowledge, no complaints. However the BBQ sandwhich was not as good as it used to be…brisket tasted baked, no pit smoked flavor. More bread than meat and unfortunately drowned in sauce…which is a no-no in TX. Cole slaw was sour or old…all for 15 bucks

Not only was the lady rude whenever I called on the phone I went ahead and gave him a chance because you never know what people deal with. When I got there, I did not see a way to get inside to look at all the sports things people were talking about on the reviews so I just went to the window and the girl that took my order was not friendly so I thought hey maybe they have good barbecue though got my order no thank you for coming. No nothing as a matter of fact, I said thank you and she didn’t even acknowledge me.. Brisket was dry and the sliced brisket was not only dry but so tough. I couldn’t even eat it terrible place. Don’t even waste your time.

If you are starving and need barbecue…. It will do. But overall not a recommended place.
It has nice people but is a result of few choices in the region. I ordered a 1/4 lb sliced brisket and hotlink. Not quite sure that the brisket actually would have been 1/4 lb. The brisket was mediocre quality and not very moist. The hot link was decent. Two slices of cheese and a soft drink and it was over $20.
The cheddar slices were actually very good.
Seems a bit expensive for the provided seating and lack of atmosphere or amenities.
The restroom is one you’ll have to walk outside and around the building to get into from the outside.
Seems to be a classic case of overpriced Texas barbecue that doesn’t live up to its pricing.
If you can wait… I’d recommend driving to Tyler or Jacksonville to have more choices .

First, the service was not bad. It was just the middle of the road. The food was great. I had sliced beef and sausage with potato salad and coleslaw slaw. Price is about what you’d expect for a BBQ joint in this day and age. I can recommend them and would gladly eat there again.

We picked up ribs, sliced beef and potato salad for takeout this afternoon. Service was pleasant and quick. $42 worth. The ribs were very good, nice smoke, not greasy, tender. The beef was dry as sandpaper. The potato salad was not as good as Kroger’s and the sauce tasted pretty heavy on the ketchup. Definitely would not pay for that beef again. $15/pound and barely edible.
