So disappointing. We were passing through and stopped for a late lunch because the reviews were good. We opted for buffet instead of a plated meal and maybe that’s where we went wrong? The chicken and shredded pork were dry. The mac was ok, the beans were good, the corn was good and had a little kick to it. The sauces weren’t great but the best one was the tangy rib sauce. So disappointed there weren’t any ribs or brisket. Just overall disappointing experience.

The staff was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately that’s where the positives end. The supposedly award winning ribs were tough and the amount of meat vs sinew was disappointing. The meat also didn’t pull cleanly away from the bones when eating them. They were also either over-smoked, got ash on them, or the wood was green because they had an ashy creosote taste. The chicken had this same issue. The sides were bland and some were dried out. The pulled pork had a good flavor but unfortunately was also dry.

I’m sorry to say, but the bbq was very dry, and unworthy of any praise. Jimmy, the person helping was very nice, but I believe the owner could’ve taken a more helpful approach with new customers, and he shouldn’t assume an 11 year old was older than he actually is. The only reason I give three stars is for Jimmy and the banana pudding. 🙂

Its a great BBQ place!! Get out of Wilmington and try it! Awesome fried chicken, BBQ, hash, and banana pudding like grandma’s!!! I heard the ribs are awesome, I haven’t tried them yet, but will! Very friendly people

This place has some great southern food. I went for the “2 tripper” buffet and got plenty of food. The smoked chicken and plain BBQ are top notch and those were some of the best collards I have had in a while. Highly recommended.

Eat in or carry out, an absolute winner! Great food, great service, clean and humble facilities and reasonably priced. We order their take-out “family pack” at least every other week (a whole fried chicken, barbecue, 3 sides of your choice and hush puppies); we are a family of four and we can never eat it all (great left-overs, LOL!). Highly recommended!

DO NOT BUY A Coupon As They Will NOT Honor!!
Bought a coupon for this place on a website that sells discounts for various places. Before going checked to see what the hours of operation are. Their website said they were open until 8 P.M.
Got there and they were closed. Went the next evening and they were closed again. ( I know should have wrote the number and called). The coupons expired on 12-31-2015. Called to see if they would be open before going again. They said they would be open until 8 P.M. Explained the coupon issue and the person spoke with ( believe the owner, a real “A–” ) said that I was out of luck, that they had the coupons for sale online for a year. Explained that had just purchased recently. The person on the phone said to bad and they would not honor even though the site purchased on said that they most likely would if time had expired but it would be for face value only.

I’m really not exaggerating when I say they have they l the best BBQ, fried chicken, hush puppies, Cole slaw, Brunswick stew, & Mac n cheese I have ever tasted. I wish more people knew they are there. I crave this place at least once a week. GREAT FOOD.
