Reviews
I recently visited Bombay on the Beach in Blackmans Bay, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The restaurant manages to strike that perfect balance between a laid-back coastal vibe and a sophisticated dining atmosphere.
The Food
The highlights of the meal were definitely the Chilli Paneer and the Malai Kofta.
* Chilli Paneer: Perfectly crispy on the outside with a beautiful glaze of soy and chili, tossed with fresh capsicum and onions. It had just the right amount of “zing.”
* Malai Kofta: These were incredibly soft and sat in a rich, creamy cashew-based gravy that was seasoned to perfection.
* Dessert: We finished with the Pistachio Kulfi, which was beautifully presented in a small cast-iron dish and topped with crushed pistachios and rose petals. It was the perfect cooling end to the meal.
Drinks & Atmosphere
The drink (a refreshing pink grapefruit soda/cocktail) was served with a fresh lemon slice and was a great palate cleanser. I also loved the look of the bar—the live-edge timber countertops and the impressive wall of Tasmanian spirits (including Lark and Forty Spotted Gin) show they really care about local quality.
The Vibe
The interior is clean, modern, and bright, with large windows that let you look out. Even with the overcast weather, the space felt warm and welcoming.
Highly recommend for anyone in the Blackmans Bay area looking for high-quality Indian cuisine with a view!

The mango lassi was divine silky smooth with a natural mango sweetness that complemented the smoky spice of the chicken tikka perfectly.
The paneer was outstanding tender cubes soaked in aromatic spices and a creamy sauce that paired perfectly with the freshly baked garlic naan.
It was an absolute pleasure! The wait staff were so warm, kind and efficient, which made the whole experience feel extra special. Can’t wait to go back!
