What started as a food truck has officially planted roots inside the downtown Juneau bus station, and Indies Subs is bringing a welcome dose of East Coast Italian deli energy to the capital city.

The menu leans heavily into classic sub shop territory with steak sandwiches, Italian hoagies, and a lineup of hot and cold subs available in both 6-inch and 12-inch formats. There are also a few salads and appetizers if you want to round things out. Bonus points if you are on the hunt for a proper Big Pickle. Yes, they have those too.

We sampled a spread including the Philly, meatball, and chicken parm. Overall, everything landed solidly in the good category without quite crossing into game-changing territory. The builds were satisfying and clearly scratch the deli itch. The sandwiches skew slightly bread heavy, though not dramatically so. The chicken parm in particular could benefit from a little refinement in the breading for better texture and crispness.

Service was friendly and quick, which fits the fast-casual, grab-and-go nature of the space.

Bottom line: A solid downtown stop for hearty subs and East Coast comfort vibes. Not perfect, but definitely a welcome player in Juneau’s sandwich scene.

Awesome food, amazing service, owner and staff are kind and down the earth. 10/10 would recommend. So grateful to have a place that’s not a tourist trap. PS: try their in house potato chips and make sure you add all the fixings to you Philly cheesesteak. My wife really loved the vegetarian option too!

Quiet little sub shop at the Transportation Center that makes tasty cheese steak sandwiches. My husband split a large (12 inch) and it hit the spot for an early afternoon snack. Definitely worth a try.

As a former resident of Philly I can say that these Cheesesteaks are on par with the ones we got in highschool cafeterias. Not necessarily a bad thing since it’s still miles ahead of most peoples’ ideas of a Cheesesteak. Way too skimpy on the meat, no options on the menu it’s just “Cheesesteak”. No choosing mushroom, provolone, whiz, swiss, peppers, onions, buffalo chicken Cheesesteak, pizza steak, etc. Got handed a brown paper bag not half-soaked in grease and I already knew it wasn’t a proper steak but still probably the best you’ll get in town if you’re curious what the big deal is. Also I’m sure shipping stuff up here adds to the cost but 22 bucks for a Cheesesteak with nothing added on is wild, 10 dollars tops back home for way more.

Wasn’t sure if it was gonna be worth it or not but the food here is fireeee. Got the chicken parm and the Philly cheesesteak. Both were soooo good. And the people here are so nice ! Juneau needed a good Philly cheesesteak and this place delivered. The chips are good too

I got a philly cheese steak. I’m going to start off by saying it’s an extremely good sandwich. Really juicy and everything is packed together nicely. The bread is mouthwatering. BUT, the place is extremely expensive for what they give you. The sandwich is really small, and they don’t have and amazing selection. I’m going to be very blunt by saying that you could get the same exact thing, same taste and everything, just less juicy at subway for double lower prices than Indendi’s. I will be coming back tho.

Updated 2025.01.19. Had their chicken parmesan sandwhich, the chicken looked too dark, like burned on the outside, the meat looked dry, tasted alright except when it tasted spicy hot. Along with a different soup of the day which tasted much better than the first soup tasted. Their house made potato chips doesn’t match up to the regular fries as these are dry and hard.

Tasted their soup of the day, overly salty, gritty, taste was a turn off, not recommended.

The Philly Cheese steak, sandwich here tasted just alright, acceptable, not great, lacking the right combination of seasonings and or herbs to make this taste better.

I didn’t do the sandwich justice with my photography because I was too excited to eat it! Delicious Philly! Perfect little gem of a location to pop in and get a great sub.

FINALLY!!! Juneau has a good cheesesteak! The staff was great and the owners Dustin and Emma know what they are doing! Juneau does not have any good authentic Cheesesteaks, this one has high quality good steak, cheese and the bread is what its supposed to be! Highly recommend!
