Another excellent experience from the Cicada family of restaurants. Overall I really enjoyed the food and thought that the majority of the dishes were excellent and unique. I thought they did a great job at selecting the right dishes for the season. There were a mix of lighter more refreshing dishes as well as heartier ones which felt right for the end of summer/start of fall. The hot dishes (esp the soup) came out piping hot, while the cold dishes came out cold which I thought was a nice contrast and made everything seem very fresh. I look forward to returning soon!

I have to say, this place pleasantly surprised me! I’ve gone to sister restaurant Cicada, and was unimpressed by portions and overall taste profile for most of the dishes. The papaya salad, fish tartare, and Key West main dish at The Eaves were generously seasoned, creative and tastefully presented—much better than the experience I had at Cicada (though that was a while ago and it could be different now!) Clams were just okay. The Whisper of the Heart cocktail was impressively balanced!

This is such a delightful place to come for a drink, a meal, and a date night. The Eaves is a terrific setting for an intimate 2 or 3 person evening. The entrance is a bit tough to find in Bow Market – though after entering, it’s to hide the high quality atmosphere that’s inside.
We got drinks after being seated and we’re impressed by the flavor of drinks indicative of a cosmopolitan feel.
The food was most impressive. The spice level was very high and was balanced with the wonderful flavours provided. The vegetarian salad was a good starter, followed by ceviche and finally, the duck. That duck is still something I am thinking about – tender, juicy, and with just enough spice that makes me want more.
Our service complemented a wonderful evening. The staff were always attentive to our needs, happy to answer questions, and ensure we had a great time. Though it’s a bit pricey, The Eaves deserves 5 stars, a bigger place, and another visit from us and others. Thank you for such a great time and hope to come again soon!

I downed my entire bowl of bun Bo hue! Sooooooo good. Packed with a lot of meat and flavors. Friendly staffs too. Cozy vibe

Popular place that needs reservation in advance (likely because the shop is somewhat small). The staff was extremely friendly and kind, offering a sake drink as a start on the house. The golden dragon (?) flower sake was amazing.
However, the shop interior felt a bit decrepit – my stool was rocking back and forth. The egg noodles were well cooked but overall alright. $35 per person with appetizers.

Checked out The Eaves, nestled inside Bow Market. Being a new spot, we were eager to see what it was all about. The place has a cozy vibe with limited seating, which definitely adds a unique touch and a bit of personality to the dining experience. It’s a Vietnamese fusion joint that serves up small tapas-style dishes.
We sampled a variety of items from the menu. While everything was presented beautifully and the service was top-notch, the flavors didn’t quite hit the mark for us. It felt like the dishes were toned down a bit, possibly to cater more to American palates, resulting in a somewhat muted taste profile. Overall, loved the atmosphere and the concept, but the food left us wanting a bit more punch.

Great restaurant and I’ll be coming back. Resembles a speakeasy while still representing that it’s a Vietnamese restaurant. We nearly missed the restaurant since we couldn’t find the entrance, but it’ll just be where they have the red rope closing off the entrance and a menu.
Ambiance is top tier. It’s where the kitchen is half the restaurant, but it’s really warm and cozy especially with the decor. There’s only seating for maybe 20 people at any given time.
We had nearly everything. I recommend the duck gyozas, the nghệ (fish noodle soup with a light sour broth), clams, and tartar though that’s literally everything I had. My favorite dishes by far were the tartar (spicy and minty) and the duck gyozas. The portion sizes were on the smaller sizes compared to regular restaurants, so you should treat each dish a tasting experience.
Drinks were great. I had whisper of the heart and a sake. Being at the bar is just so fun – you’re immersed in the decorations and the bartender (also owner) is a pleasure to talk to!

Cool ambience, although sitting on the high tops is a bit uncomfortable and cramped. There are low top options. The food was very underwhelming and lackluster. A few of our clams were sandy, and several were inedible because they were closed. The garnish didn’t make much sense – large, unavoidable pieces of lemongrass that were too hard to chew. The shrimp salad was incredibly sweet and overdressed and the shrimp tasted like a chlorine. Both appetizers were overpriced. Our mains were better than our appetizers but still not impressive. We were expecting more brightness and freshness than what we tasted. Overall the menu is very seafood heavy so if you don’t like seafood, this is not for you. The first cocktail I had (Whisper of the Heart) was pretty good – made of mezcal and bright pink. The second (Rain or Shine) was way too bitter and horribly balanced. The wine selection was interesting but for some reason the pour was tiny! See photo. Our service was good, though. Probably the highest mark for service. Our server was very kind and answered our questions well even though it was her first week. She made sure to check on stuff we asked about and was very attentive. She took my second cocktail off the bill when I said I disliked it. Lastly, the location is a bit difficult to find – it’s through the doors on the first floor where the bathrooms are in Bow Market. Overall, we will not be back and sadly do not recommend.

This is not your father’s Pho shop. Rather it is a most excellent, well executed, refined small menu of Vietnamese dishes.
The Duck tartare had excellent seasoning and textures.
The Shrimp Gyoza is very well executed with interesting flavors.
The Eaves noodle bowl is the obvious choice for the flagship dish. Noodle texture and cook was perfect. The ‘Salad’ topping was completely appropriate and not the usual Pho toppings. The beef broth was the centerpiece of this bowl: refined in texture, seasoning, flavors and heat. Not your father’s Vietnamese noodle bowl.
Definitely worth the trip.
