Not bad. Tasted better than Guad. Next time I’ll ask for extra enchilada sauce. Their salsa was good. Chips are very thick & crunchy but good. I will be going back to try more. I didn’t see any flies & the server was nice & I didn’t have to wait like some of the other reviews. Prices reasonable too. I recommend for trying something local that’s new.

We started with the chips and salsa. The chips are house made and are not like the classic triangle chips you get elsewhere. They don’t break when dipping in the salsa. The salsa is very fresh with a rich tomato and cilantro flavor with a medium spice.

The Carne asada was plated well with a good presentation. The beef was tasty, the rice moist, and the pico was extremely fresh. The beans were on point, and the whole grilled jalapeño was a nice touch.

Likewise, with the chicken fajitas, the plating and presentation were attractive. The chicken was flavorful. We would order it again.

The restaurant atmosphere is open with several booths. The tables were clean as well.

Probably the best taco salad. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The vegetables were fresh. Chips and salsa was also amazing. We Ordered takeout and everything was fresh and hot when we got home.

the food has been great the two times i’ve come here but, the tortilla chips are inedible. they are so so hard!! i also watched the girl adding food to the buffet table pick food out of a tray with her bare hands and started licking her fingers the whole way through the restaurant grabbing more food and coming back to the buffet without washing her hands. that really grossed me out not sure if i’ll be back.

This was my first time. I was excited I had heard good things about this place i went at lunch i ordered what on the web site said was chicken nachos i recieved and this and the chips were so dam hard literally hurt my teeth thick and hard no flavor and the chicken was in big strips like for a sancwich. i went back first all i have was chicken and hard pieces of dough in the container . I was told the chips were home made and there was nothing they could! what chips hard as nails no way I love mexican and have never ever had a chip that hard but the fact there is nothing we can do no offer for another item no Im sorry. guess what i will never talk about recommend or eat here again A TOTAL LET DOWN! I HAVE NEVER BEEN TOLD NOTHING WE CAN DO ! OKAY

Sometimes a massive plate of Mexican food is exactly what you need in your life. I have often found a hole in my life is best filled with homemade tortilla chips, fajita tacos, a side of refried beans and cemented a cold Modelo with lime. Cactus Mexican Restaurant in Charlottesville, Virginia, provides authentic Mexican cuisine at a reasonable price with friendly service. Now, I will say that it is hard for me to knock Mexican restaurants, so most Mexican places I will say are worth frequenting. I’m really into that category of food, and I love spicy, so when a dish is delivered with a giant, roasted jalapeno, I’m probably going to enjoy whatever else is on the plate. Some of the things I look for in a Mexican restaurant are the location and quality of chip and salsa. Is this place in a random location? Any good restaurant can survive in the busiest part of town, but if you survive off random a street then you know people are seeking out that food because it’s tasty! Additionally, you can tell a lot by a Mexican restaurant based on the chips and salsa. Did these come from a bag, or are they still warm? Is this salsa unique, or run-of-the-mill? All I’m saying is, Cactus is in a random location, with excellent chips and salsa.

The food beats all the other Latin food places in town, hands-down. Honduran dishes and perfectly cooked,, tender meats. Carne asada you can write poetry about. Burritos you could park a mobile home on.
