My husband and I visited Chattanooga for the day and stopped at Barque BBQ for lunch and we are so glad we did! The food was amazing. I got the fried bologna with collard greens and mac n cheese and my husband ordered the brisket with chili and mac. Everything was amazing and the owner and employees were super friendly. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

Visiting from Georgia. Incredible place! Great atmosphere, brisket was immaculate. Greens were absolutely delicious. The Cooks and Matt who took our order were all very friendly. If you are in town, make a point to visit this place! Patty the patio cat was also so very friendly! Phone did not eat first

I really like the facility, the type of place you want to get BBQ, an old refurbished location. Very friendly cashier, love the open kitchen through the glass doors. Brisket was very tender and juicy, would have loved more seasoning and smoke flavor personally, but still very good. Burnt ends were good too. I would have loved to try more, especially the sides and collards, but was just passing through town. Not too far off interstate for a stop by, maybe better to call ahead and not wait. I’ll definitely give it another try when in Chattanooga.

Brisket was the best I’ve had outside Texas!!! Pulled chicken was moist & tasted superb. Ribs fell off the bone & only needed sauce if you wanted to taste a lil sauce, as they were seasoned perfectly!
Potato salad and Mac and cheese, complimented the meal perfectly!
The brisket sandwich was phenomenal!!!!!
Guy running the place, extremely pleasant and polite to my Developmentally Disabled clients. 1110 would go anytime I wanted a perfect BBQ meal!!!

The restaurant has great reviews, but I felt slightly disappointed in the brisket plate I ordered. It was tough and just didn’t taste fresh. My wife had pulled pork and it was excellent. It was tender and literally melted in our mouths. I also had wings and they were honestly the best I ever had. The sides were a mixed bag, but generally good. I would return to try other items if I’m in that area again. Overall, I’d recommend folks try it.

Had the pleasure of sampling their food at the an event and couldn’t wait to bring my husband and his friends in to try it out! There is nothing I wouldn’t recommend! The chicken is smokey and tender, the burnt ends are soft and just the perfect texture, the brisket has the perfect amount of fat! No one was disappointed! The chili on the baked potato was amazing. The meat was perfect! If you are a fan of good bbq, cold beer, and a relaxed atmosphere this place is for you! Make sure to sit outside and say hi to Patty the Patio Cat!

If I could give service 7 stars I absolutely would. This place is great. I was here on Thanksgiving Day and they were nearly out of food. Being from out of town we didn’t have many options and to be honest we intended to go here and drove past it because it looked a little sketchy. Let me tell you, as a bbq lover I’m aware the sketchier the look on the outside the better the food is gonna be and it holds true here. We circled back around and parked. Sign on the door said they may need two hours to fulfill an order, but I went in and was met with the friendliest service I’ve encountered in ages. Matt told me what they had available which met our needs and man did they deliver. From pulled pork sandwiches, to loaded baked potatoes with our choice of meat, to dinner plates with sides they crushed every expectation we had. I’m love bbq sauce and most places I go to I’ll get the spicy. This place actually makes it spicy! Great beer selection and we cleaned out their desserts as well. 10/10. Y’all keep this place alive so the next time I’m in Chattanooga it’s here for me!

I really really wanted to like Barque. We talked to the owner and the staff was great. Outdoor patio was great and toasty warm with the heater even on a chilly morning. The food smelled phenomenal (like my mouth was watering), but my brisket and burnt ends were very dry. Maybe it was left on the smoker for too long or cooked earlier and held in a warmer? It was just dry, which is not great. Lots of potential, but maybe it’d be better at lunchtime and not dinnertime?

We stopped here for BBQ and chose here specifically because of their vegetarian-friendly menu. They enjoyed the portabello mushroom sandwich, but the tofu was just ok. They enjoyed the baked potato too.

Review from a Hill Country born Texan – adorable place – atmosphere is on point even down to the Shiner sign on the wall and Buddy Holly record cover.

My favorites:
– chili is ON POINT. And no beans of course – thank you :). I would come back again just for that with the yummy cornbread
– mac and cheese – delicious and love the pepper bite in it
– Proper BBQ sauce is exactly that. Bought a bottle to take home with me

A few tips for anyone finding the brisket or chicken dry. This is a traditional authentic dry rub Texas bbq joint. It’s all about the smoke and sauce.

To the chef – we may have had 2nd day reheated brisket as there wasn’t much of a smoke ring if at all and would have preferred a thicker bark. I do realize how difficult brisket is to have on a menu and serve perfectly every time. But the sauce made up for some of that. And you can see from the potato salad pic that the lid must have been screwed off on the paprika

Ribs were great and fell off the bone. And you even had Texas Pete’s pepper sauce. Great job!

And btw – I felt like I was in Texas being helped by Meghan (sp?). She was welcoming and helpful.

This is a perfect hidden gem barbecue spot the probably only half of locals even know about you should definitely give it a try have some great pulled pork brisket and cornbread look like it might have been dry but it was still moist. Unfortunately we got there at the end of the day and they were out of almost everything so be sure you get there early they’re only open till 7:00 p.m. so if you’re late dinner eater you might miss out. They are on doordash but they are not on Uber eats yet hopefully soon. They have a fantastic outdoor patio and the neighborhood has some local bars and breweries that would accompany some great barbecue. It was great to meet the owner today and really appreciated him trying to let us get just a taste even though they were out very friendly staff and crew he had.
