We chose this spot to support a local business and have a quiet place to talk. They let us sit outside, which I appreciated, but the service soured the whole visit. The staff felt reluctant, cold, almost like our presence was a bother. Even when asking for change to leave a cash tip, the attitude was unwelcoming. I was ready to order more, but instead I cut the meal short. With food that hovers around average and service that pushes you out the door, I cannot recommend a return.
Food: Chicken Wings + Papaya Salad –
The chicken wings were five pieces, three flats and two drums, with that extra joint still attached. Not the best deal size-wise, but the wings themselves were tasty. The sauce they came coated in was the highlight, rich and flavorful, though the tangy side sauce fell flat.
The papaya salad, ordered mild, was even more disappointing. No other flavors, garlic, no balance, just a pile of bland crunch without character.
Verdict:
Charisma 4. Uniqueness 3. Nerve 3. Talent 4.
I started with a glass of the Thai iced tea and it’s amazing!!! Perfect smooth and sweet combination.
My entree was the chicken phad Thai at 3 stars of spiceyness
The indoor seating is truly pleasant and there is even outdoor seating!!
So many wonderful things to come
Back for!!!
I’d say I never feel disappointed with Thai foods in LA, but this was my first time feeling that way.
The food was not up to the quality or even close to the authenticity, and we ordered a few dishes to test out. I’d say it was 3/10 for authenticity. I do not recommend it to people who visit LA from out-of-town. Thai foods in Thai towns are better!
The Thai food here is very refined and executed very well. They balance a lot of the flavors so it can seem a bit subtle compared to other Thai restaurants that you may have visited. Presentation and flavors are very clean!
For appetizers, we got the Papaya Salad and White Sticky Rice. The Papaya Salad was very healthy and had a subdued saltiness that is different than what I’m used to. Still good though, but more balanced. It paired well with some White Sticky Rice and had a nice crunch from the cabbage.
The Thai Beef Stew was amazing! The broth was so pure and clean! Super yummy and extremely tasty. The cuts of beef were plentiful, but had some cartilage fiber that may not be as palatable to some. I enjoyed it thoroughly though. It came with White Jasmine Rice which was perfect.
The Khao Soi was bomb too! Super creamy and well made. Large pieces of chicken and plenty of noods! Always an excellent dish that more people need to know about!
All in all, def one of my favorite Thai eats in Los Angeles!
No bar, great service with indoor and outdoor seating. A little pricey but in line with this LA neighborhood.
