I’ve been frequenting Frothy Monkey locations for years, and it’s always solid. But this morning was different.
Whoever prepared my breakfast didn’t just cook it — they crafted it. The attention to detail was noticeable from the first bite. The omelet wasn’t just good… it was art. You could tell this wasn’t just a job for whomever prepared it.
It was so impressive I had to ask who made it. Jordan is the young man responsible, and when I told him how great it was, you could see he genuinely cared and was honored someone noticed.
If you go, get the omelet — and ask if Jordan can make it.
Jordan is a soon-to-be culinary rockstar.

Food was ok – not a ton of breakfast spots right here. Kombucha was amazing on tap!
Coffee was good – just the food is ok

Parking directly in front (along the street) was available when we arrived at 9 on Sunday morning. Seated immediately. Coffee and breakfast were delicious.
The interior is clean with a quirky, extremely pleasant atmosphere. Great place to meet a friend to catch up.

We really love the breakfast food here. They have some simple and unique dishes. Our favorites are the Farm Breakfast, Vanilla French Toast and Bagel Sandwich. It’s really nice that they serve breakfast until 5 which gives you a great place to grab brunch any day of the week.

The outdoor seating is perfect. It’s covered and convenient.

Since I moved back to AL in March, three of us have been meeting for breakfast every Saturday morning around 10, alternating between Forest Park, Mountain Brook, Homewood, and Vestavia. The menu selections at Frothy Monkey are varied and every meal I’ve had was prepared to my liking and delicious. They are invariably super busy, and I expect to wait for a table and anticipate service may not be quick. Servers are always pleasant and apologetic when that is the case. I’ve only one complaint, and it has remained constant since my first visit. The coffee is warm. Not hot. Not even close to hot. At our most recent visit, I ordered a latte and I specifically let our server know I’d never gotten hot coffee in previous visits. She apologized very sincerely and said she would be sure it was hot when delivered to our table. Having waited right near the front desk, I watched the Barista make the signature coffees. What I witnessed was that a server gave her an order and she made each in the order it was given to her, and placed the cup on the counter, where it awaited pickup as the server was available while attending their other tables. I watched mine being made (with milk/cream right out of the fridge) and saw it sit (with 4-5 others) for more than 5+ minutes until our server had an opportunity to pick it up and bring it to our table, after my meal was served. It was tepid. Both all the servers and the Barista were hustling as fast as they could, but it just seemed as if they were spread too thin for a Saturday brunch service. Next time (and I will certainly continue to patronize the restaurant), I’ll just bring my thermal cup with my own coffee.

We came in on a morning right as they opened and sat down. Service was good and the coffee was ok. But the food was not good to say the least. I got the vanilla cinnamon french toast and the apples that came on top were ICE COLD. I am not sure what else they put on it but it was pretty terrible. My wife got the bagel sandwich which was actually very good. All to say just make sure you have actual hot food and I would not recommend coming in during open, the atmosphere is not the best.

Very poor service. Staff were not that busy. Hot drinks were just warm and came out after our food. My wife tried to get our drinks from the counter because we saw them sitting there so long. Food and atmosphere were fine. We just left cash for our bill and tip on the table because we were tired of waiting for them to pick up the check

Truly abysmal service. We waited ~15 min to order and had to flag someone down; we watched our hot coffee drink drinks sit on the counter and get cold while we finished our food and staff stood around. Couldn’t get someone to take a credit card so we could pay and leave. Staff were also unfriendly.
Food is hit and miss. The Cali toast had good veggies and yummy tomatoes, but a really sad skimpy layer of avocado, and it didn’t seem like the sourdough was toasted. Vibe is cool but overall really disappointing experience.

We have been to the location downtown, which is usually a decent time here and there. The food is always good at that location, but the service is somewhat shotty. It just depends on the day & time. So when we discovered that frothy monkey had made a new location in Homewood, we decided to check it out to see if we would get an even better experience than the one that we receive downtown. To say the least, we were disappointed. We ordered the French toast, which describes having apples and cinnamon, and usually an order of French toast is 2 pieces of bread, cut in half, giving you four pieces of French toast for an order. This was one piece of French toast, 2 pieces, for $14. That is absurd and honestly unheard of. I dont know if that was a kitchen mistake…but even still, the server should have caught it at expo and had it fixed with another piece of french toast & the right garnish of apples and cinnamon like the description states. Also, if this was the mistake on behalf of kitchen staff, this should’ve been caught by our server….which brings me to my next point. Our server was kind and attentive up until taking our order, getting us what we needed, and then being in a rush to leave the entire time. This is the same experience that we have had at the downtown location where our server was in a rush to leave so they got our order, put in in, no follow ups whatsoever, just to be able to clock out & leave quickly. I totally understand wanting to leave for the day after being at work for the majority of it, but at least check in with your table to make sure they need more water or anything else. My partner ordered the hash, in which the first time they forgot one of the key ingredients of sausage. They remade the order, but the next time around, it was a different portion with less kale and a prominent amount of sausage. Yes, this is a thorough review, but it’s necessary because I, too, am in the industry and the decline of service and staff double-checking things and catching the simple mistakes is just getting out of hand. I was going to even leave a decent tip for our waitress…but she was in such a rush to leave, snd walked right past us to do just thay with purse in hand, that it felt pointless to leave the amount I was going to, so I retracted a potion of it because when it came down to the food, we weren’t impressed. I was tipping solely because our server and the manager who checked on us were kind to us. Either way, we will most likely not be back. And I’m sure you all could care less, but I had to leave this review so the mistakes can be hopefully be fixed by the staff, & hopefully remedied for customers the next time around so they don’t have to have the same similar experience.

me and my boyfriend stopped in to eat and really enjoyed our food and drinks. the service wasn’t super attentive but that is completely expected as this is a coffee/study spot instead of a service-heavy restaurant. we were paid attention to whenever we needed attention. the only thing i will say, though, is that there was a gentleman who was sat down by himself and given water and then never spoke to again. we got our food around 6:30 and we left around 7:05. he was sat right before we got our food and he finally walked out without even a water refill a couple of minutes before we left. i felt so bad for him the entire time because he was looking around while the server was sitting other people on the patio/inside. they weren’t busy at all and given that the only server was training someone, i give them a little grace. but after reading other reviews saying that they’ve also been ignored, i felt like sharing this was important.
