Stumbled across this place and we loved it. The food was good and it felt very homey inside. Not busy when we stopped by. Would recommend stopping by! We saved this spot on our map in case we’re ever back in the are

A very typical small down diner serving simple diner food. I was going to order some fried eggs and pancakes for breakfast until I saw a sign on the napkin dispenser that said beef tallow was used for cooking so I ordered oatmeal and toasts instead. I am sure foods cooked with beef tallow are tasty but not for me. The server was very friendly and she kept checking on us to make sure we were doing okay.

The cafe atmosphere was nice with a lot of decorations. They also had this fun fact powerpoint slide, which is educational. Ordered a sandwich that had beef onion and cheese tasted very nice as well as the potato salad. There is plenty of parking near the motel next door and the prices are average. Overall decent cafe to stop for lunch. A lot of old people eat here too.

We are locals who eat here regularly. It’s good, affordable diner food. The best, cheapest place in town. (Yes, there are other good places to eat, but they aren’t as affordable.) Service is excellent too.

Guy was very rude to us, instead of saying he didn’t have a table to accommodate 6 he asked which 4 wanted to go first that we couldn’t sit together (no problem) but then he said we could move on down the road if we didn’t like that. The last time and only time we ate there, or ever will eat there, the waitress was very sweet and friendly. We ended up at a very friendly bagel shop downtown.

A Hidden Gem Near Yellowstone!
While returning from Yellowstone National Park, we made a quick stop for gas at Dubois—a small and charming town just two hours from the park entrance—and stumbled upon the Village Café. What a pleasant surprise!
We ordered the chicken burger with fries, chicken tenders, and beer-battered cod and fries (fish and chips). The food was hot, fresh, and generously portioned. I especially loved the dip that came with the fish—flavorful and unique! The prices were fair, and the cozy, rustic interior gave the place a welcoming vibe.
We also bought a bear-themed wall hanging from the café—such a nice touch! My 8-year-old son had a great time, and we all left full and happy.
Definitely worth a stop if you’re driving through Dubois—great food, friendly service, and a memorable little detour!

I needed a quick, inexpensive dinner, came here not expecting much, and was pleasantly surprised.
The burger was good, plenty of fries, and bottomless 7UP. All for under $12.
The service was nice and unobtrusive. There when you needed it and not bothersome when you didn’t.
It was a good meal.
