Perfect stop for burgers after a long hike! The area was clean, the cart owner was very friendly, the food was very good! It’s a build-a-burger type place. My friend and I enjoyed our cheese burgers. The tots and onion rings were good. I’ll try the homemade pulled pork next time. They also make their own chili. It will be hard to decide between pulled pork loaded fries or chili cheese tots on my next stop!
They also had water for our two tired pups. I’ll definitely stop again. I hear there are plans in the works for a sister cart with ice cream opening Summer ’24.

My husband and I loved this place! We tried the pulled pork sandwich and a bacon burger and both were delicious. The tots were cooked to perfection and to top off the amazing food the service is incredible. The guy who runs this spot does an exceptional job and is the most genuine! We will definitely come back to this gem of a place!

I got the chicken burger and my partner got the pulled pulled pork -both were delicious. You fill out a sheet with the toppings you’d like and cheese, bacon, avocado etc. The owner is a lovely man and did a great job making our food. He has big plans to make this place even more enjoyable in the winter and summer. A must stop!!

Top contender for “best burger in the canyon”. The owner-operators are incredibly friendly. I like the “build your own” approach, which includes a drink. It’s a rustic operation, but they put a lot of love & thought into creating a welcoming and cozy environment into the little outdoor space.
Would recommend: support good, local people!

If you haven’t visited The Hwy 22 Canteen yet, you are heavily missing out! The food is prepared with love and a passion for making burgers. These guys cook their hearts out! The burgers I’ve had from them put every burger I’ve ever had to shame. The one I got today was a double patty burger with double bacon, American cheese, cheddar cheese, peanut butter, fry sauce, jalapenos, pickles, onions. Delicious! They and the tots also hold up well to refrigeration, so they easily make a second meal! The guys that run the Canteen are fantastic — so kind, funny, and easy to talk to. Love them!

Really loved this salt of the earth place. The man running it was friendly and pleasant to chat with. We had a Nachos and Pulled Pork sandwich, which really hot the spot. It was easy to park at and had fair prices.

We’ve gone by this place on our way through on hwy 22 several times. This time we stopped to try out the burgers. For what seemed like a simple place they have a surprising amount of options. We loved that they had quite a few options for toppings etc. and you get exactly what you ask for. We opted for fries – which were nice and crispy. Great service, great food.
