History, charm & good food!
This is one of my favorite places to dine in Medina’s historic town square. The atmosphere in the main dining room is authentic, easy on the eye, and romantic. There is also a bar with seating behind the dining room. My favorite dish is the potato encrusted walleye. And it’s not flaked potatoes that encrust it, it’s slices of fresh, perfectly seasoned potatoes that encase the fish and the taste it’s outstanding. Their menu is all inclusive so there is something for everyone on it. And that goes for appetizers, entrees, salads, sandwiches & desserts. BTW, they also have a pastry chef who specializes in vegan desserts. Her carrot cake is sensational. Be sure to get on their mailing list since they also have entertainment on weekends and parties on the patio in nicer weather.
Definitely a great place to eat.

We were there today for lunch. My Patty melt burger was dry and overcooked and unseasoned. There was no flavor to the burger at all! I think they forgot to salt the meat. It was the worst Patty melt I have ever had. I was so disappointed. For $11 just for the burger it should have been much better. The hand cut fries were delicious. The service was excellent. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to ruin the fun day I was having with my mom.

The food and service is impeccable. While the menu was extensive, we were informed that they were cutting back without losing it’s flavor. I mean, this was one of the hardest decisions to make as everything looked mouth watering. There were 4 of us and every meal was cooked to perfection and delicious. I cannot wait to go back and explore more mouth watering options. To note, this isn’t a generic chain so don’t walk in expecting to pay $10 Or $15 on a meal. This is quality dining and service. Definitely call ahead on weekends.

Our waiter was attentive and is not the problem. The food was bad, i think it was probably microwaved at best. we had been there before a couple years ago and food was good. clam chowder was over cooked, black berry chicken was not even editable . I could go on but enough to say, cook needs to wake up and get out of the bar and back into the kitchen! you have been chopped!

I’ll start with the positives. Had great service, and the atmosphere was — well — traditional. To the negatives. The food was awful and way over-priced. My 3 year old ordered a grilled cheese, and the server asked what she wanted with it and if we wanted a drink for her. I asked for potatoes and a milk. Turns out — both of these items were a la carte and my 3 year old’s dinner (grilled cheese, mashed potatoes, milk, which she took 3 bites of) was $16!!!! Are you kidding me? I had a “French Dip” sandwich that looked like it came from a fast food window. This place is awful.

The restaurant has a pleasantly charming atmosphere, polite and friendly staff, and a diverse menu. It has only improved over the past 25 years. Its great for taking guests, as it is set in the charming historic town of Medina. This place has what you need to relax and enjoy dinner or a place for drinks and quality conversation.

What a wonderful dining experience! Burgers to steaks and everything in between! There has not been one item on the menu so far that we have not loved! And, what a charming atmosphere! I look forward to coming especially at Christmas and Halloween for the beautiful decorations. And, Friday night rally in alley is such a fun community event too! The Main Street Cafe is a Medina gem!!

November 2015 – Nice atmosphere, terrible service. Poorly skilled servers, might as well have been at Denny’s. Too bad, nice place.
The hostess pleasantly sat the two of us to a booth, we then sat for 15 minutes before the server arrived, ordered a drink and waited another ten minutes before I went to the bartender and got my own drinks. Left before ordering any food.
