By far, the best sushi/maki/Japanese food experience we have had in CT. Everything was super fresh and the wasabi, made at the restaurant, was the spiciest we have bad in CT. Even the miso soup was exceptional. The service was awesome, and the food was served quickly. Party of two, we ordered wine, steamed gyoza appetizer, one order of the Three Musketeer Roll and one order of the Vegetables Sushi Dinner. The total bill before tip was $54.

My friends have been recommending this place for a long time. Tonight, I finally got here. Salmon Avocado roll, Maguro & Hamachi. The white rice wasn’t hard & sticky like some sushi restaurants. This rice was soft but didn’t fall apart. I like that. Just because I knew I’d be too full if I ordered a dinner, I got some appetizers to try: spring rolls & fried pork dumplings – both light & crunchy. Dipping sauces had a nice subtle taste; not vinegary. Very good. You wouldn’t know it from the outside but the inside is attractive, the sushi bar is great, and it’s busy with regulars. I think I’ll become a regular, too.

Amazing Miso soup, and cosistantly good sushi, I cannot reccomend the tempura roll enough, it was one of the best I’ve ever had! The service was great, and there was minimal wait for the food. For how amazing the food is it’s quite affordable, our table got appetizers, 3 rolls, and dessert for under $70 which feels like a steal! Great resturaunt no complaints!

During my 8-year tenure in Connecticut, I have discovered some exceptional sushi, and this establishment is certainly among the best. Interestingly, Jerry’s culinary background includes owning a restaurant in West Haven for over 20 years, which he later closed before opening this Branford, CT location.
This restaurant offers a warm and intimate setting, featuring a stylish sushi bar as its centerpiece. Jerry, a highly skilled sushi chef and local favorite, is renowned for his excellent personality. His talent for engaging with customers, creating a sense of belonging, is likely a significant factor in the restaurant’s widespread popularity. The service was swift and efficient, with a clean and welcoming atmosphere. During my solo visit, I chose to sit at the bar to fully appreciate the experience.
My dinner consisted of Miso Soup, followed by the Sushi & Sashimi Combination, which was remarkably fresh and flavorful. The Yellowtail Jalapeño Appetizer was also outstanding, although I neglected to take a photo. Jerry personally inquired about my dining experience, showcasing his thoughtful and professional demeanor. He also suggested that I try the Mackerel during my next visit, insisting that it is ‘the best.’ I have generally avoided Mackerel at other restaurants due to its propensity to taste excessively ‘fishy’ when not fresh. I hold a similar view regarding Spider Crab. I did get a chance to observe some of the other food being delivered to other tables and everything looked great, including the speciality rolls.
Ultimately, the experience was fantastic, and I will be returning with my significant other while wholeheartedly recommending it to friends, locals, and anyone seeking a similar experience.

Jerry Sans is a must-visit! I’ve been here multiple times and each visit has been incredible. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. Whether you’re sitting at the bar watching Jerry skillfully prepare sushi or at a table being served by the sweet and friendly CJ.
The sushi here is top-notch. The fresh tuna in the spicy tuna roll is something special—it’s cut into real chunks, unlike other places that make it almost like a tuna pâté. The flavor is fresh, bold, and truly satisfying. Speaking of flavor, I can’t say enough about the miso soup—it’s unlike any other I’ve had, even in high-end NYC sushi spots. The depth and richness of the broth are simply out of this world!!!!!
After a delicious meal, we always treat ourselves to mochi, which is the perfect sweet end to a great evening. We also always order tea at the beginning of our meals, and they’re so attentive about refilling your cup. Overall, Jerry Sans is a 5 stars! Highly recommended! 🙂

It always seems as though everyone in this place is having so much fun, especially guests at the bar. There is definitely good mood in the air. Service is friendly, the owner and chef is always there entertaining. If I had to rate the sushi separately it would probably be a 3.5 out of 5 – in regards to creativity, size, flavor and ratio of filling to rice; but the experience overall is great so will keep coming back

Jerry San sushi bar has moved to Branford and are we lucky for that. The Branford Hill restaurant has a compact dining room, but a long sushi bar for those of us who like to sit and watch the magic rolls and delicate sashimi come to the plate! I had a large eight piece roll full of salmon and tuna with cucumber and scallion. Then had a spicy scallop roll. The first one was delicious, the second was not so great as I could not find the scallop. I love this authentic place and the prices are very reasonable. I am so glad they moved to my side of the Q Bridge!
