We were driving home from a family Thanksgiving gathering in Maine and called Pine at the Hanover Inn to see if they could squeeze in two hungry travelers for an early dinner. They couldn’t have been more gracious. They held a cozy table for two—one that was reserved later in the evening—letting us dine with the understanding we’d finish by 6:30. We happily agreed.

From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was genuinely excellent, and the food… absolutely fantastic. It ended up being our unexpected “second Thanksgiving dinner” of the day, and what a treat it was.

We’re so glad we stopped, and we’ll definitely be returning. An exceptional dining experience!

Visited Pine on a busy Saturday night, and had the most incredible experience! The host Emilee was so friendly and very knowledgeable, and had reserved a great table. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays as well. John provided incredible service and conversation, making me feel like a VIP. The poached pear and fried chèvre salad (add salmon) was exquisite, one of the best salads I’ve ever had, and the truffle fries with the roasted tomato aioli were delicious as well. 10’s across the board and I will definitely be returning!

I’m coming from Serbia. I’ve traveled across half of Europe and visited many cities in the U.S., and I can honestly say there aren’t enough stars here to rate the staff — especially Meryll, who was incredibly attentive and kind. I have a specific diet, and she did everything to make sure I could enjoy the food (I’m thrilled). The food is excellent, and the ambiance is beautiful

Loved this place. Went for brunch and ordered the fruit/scone and Sichuan green bean dishes. The fruit plate was a bit overpriced given the amount of fruit it included. But the scone was absolutely delicious. The Sichuan green beans dish w/noodles was amazing. I got the chili oil on the side and forgot to add it lol but the dish was great without it. I wish I had taken a picture because I couldn’t find any pictures of it when I was looking and wasn’t sure what to expect. But I highly recommend it.

Stopped here bc I couldn’t find the restaurant I was looking for (poor gps directions) and I was pressed for time. I walked past and it was not busy early on a Friday evening (bad sign). Turned out it is part of a hotel which I didn’t realize. However I didn’t have much choice due to time constraints (show at opera house) so I decided to get dinner. I sat at the bar (solo) – the interior is beautiful. Opened the menu and stared at the prices. Yeah Dartmouth is here and the town needs a spot for the richer parents but really. Typical price for a glass of basic wine -18$. Anyway I ordered the bolognese with pappardelle. Came out in less than ten minutes (everything evidently premade including the pasta). Decent presentation- fairly small if one has an appetite but I wasn’t terribly hungry so it was fine. Lukewarm at best, pretty flavorless. 36$. I ate it anyway as I wasn’t in the mood to make a fuss for decent food. I just won’t come here again. I’ll explore the area for better places and make more time.

Food was good and the service was even better. Hard to say if this is the case all time, as our party ate a late lunch so there were very few customers. Everything was prepared quickly (even though there were 11 at our table). The menu has good variety and everything is tasty. I would recommend the truffle fries, they do not disappoint.

Service started out good then got real slow. Crab cake was excellent. Halibut was good. Scallops were unacceptable for the price. 3 tiny scallops for $45, outrageous. Steak was very good.

We stayed at the Hanover Inn and had a convenient lunch downstairs in the PINE restaurant. The Poached Pear salad (red looking) with the two fried chevre cheese balls, mixed greens, almonds, raspberries, prosciutto was fresh, big, and enough for a good lunch. My husband got the quinoa salad with black beans, edamame, corn, and it was huge and kept him filled until dinner.

I liked the decor of the restaurant with the huge wooden beams in the ceiling.

Service took forever, cocktails at minute 45. Felt forgotten most of night. Spent way too long for a burnt burger (ordered medium) that was absurdly overpriced. Will definitely be advising my friends to eat somewhere else if they want to feel seen and get served edible food. Spent nearly 3 hours for subpar service, poor food, and mediocre ambiance for a high price.
