Ronnie had the Soft Tofu Stew with Shrimp! The Shrimp were nice sized and very enjoyable!
To me this is better and a more relaxed environment to relax and enjoy a truly fresh meal
Take a break from VIP or Korean Garden and give Jinmi a try!!
The owner is very nice and kind. We feel like visiting a friend’s house for a meal.
We have been in Alaska for 2 weeks and we had our dinner here 3 times. It is that good!
Service was good. We were greeted in Korean upon entry! The server was polite and prompt.
The food is the real reason we go into any place. I loved that they had a great variety of options. They had beef interesting stew and a few other options that are unusual for Americans. For Alaska we thought they did a great job of a home Korean cooked meal. Compared to the absolute best we’ve had in our lives, this was a solid 4/5. Highly recommend the short ribs.
I walked into this Korean restaurant and there was a number of Korean customers almost finishing their meal. I am a non-Korean Asian and I spoke in English as I don’t speak Korean. The elderly woman called another woman to come and I asked her in English if restaurant was opened. She told me she needed to clean up then ignored me totally and left me standing there. So I had to walk out to look for another restaurant for my late lunch. Luckily there’s a Japanese restaurant (Fukumaru Teriyaki) next door.
No frills restaurant with home cooked food
My mum and I come here almost every time we stay over in Anchorage- it is that good
If you are trying Korean food for the first time, I recommend getting a sense of what kind of food you want beforehand
There is usually only one waitress and one cook when we go so they don’t usually have time to go over the details of the menu (other than like portion sizes)
Everything we have tried is good but the fried mackerel and dongjae jjigae soup (fermented soybean soup- amazing if you have an upset stomach or if you need something that feels hearty and cleansing) are my favourites
For those asking about sides, the sides that comes with your food are the usual kind of sides that comes with a Korean meal.. they alternate in different restaurants, but there will always be kimchi, pickled radish, a bowl of rice, and then two to three other small things to go along with your food
This isn’t Instagram food or carb comforting kind of food, but more like coming home at the end of a long and tiring workday and eating a home cooked dinner with your family kind of food
For atmosphere, it’s legit and the same if you went to a regular mom and pop place in Seoul
Quiet in a lunch room sort of way with sometimes the television playing a cooking show or drama
Again, this is not an Instagram kind of restaurant, but one you go to for lunch with family to eat homecooked food
Will be coming back!
