What a lovely dinner! Ambiance was elevated, with a beautiful room and perfect lighting for a romantic night out. Cocktails were delicious and balanced with a good variety of flavour profiles. The food was a 10. A standout being the whipped goat cheese and the butter chicken. We also enjoyed the goat biryani and the lamb shank which were soooooo tender and delicious flavours. The best part was our service. Kirn went above and beyond and truly made our experience memorable. From the thoughtful planning of arrival of dishes to the in depth description of all menu items, this place hit the mark.

Beautiful, hip dining room with easy parking. This restaurant made a great first impression. I was part of a large table, and the staff accommodated our group seamlessly.

The food was exceptional across the board. Flavourful, modern, and clearly made with care. I had kashmiri lamb rogan josh and whipped cheese with naan. I was dining with several South Asian friends, and everyone genuinely loved the food, which says a lot for an Indian restaurant.

I wouldn’t hesitate to bring friends or recommend it for a group outing. One small note: once the restaurant filled up, it did get quite loud and hearing conversation was a bit challenging. Overall, a fantastic experience and a place I’d happily return to.

I had the goat dum biryani, which was nicely seasoned and not too spicy, and my partner ordered the palak paneer. The food was presented beautifully, and the service was good as well.

The flavours felt more adapted to a broader palate rather than strictly traditional, which wasn’t a negative, just a personal preference, as I tend to enjoy more authentic Indian flavours. That said, I really enjoyed the food and would happily return.

Visited Kinu for the first time. It is a nice restaurant and has comfortable seating inside. Having it Uptown was really convenient.

When you arrive, there was a lot of storytelling about the restaurant’s history, which was interesting, but I would have preferred a bit more focus on the food and pacing. There was a long wait to order, to get water and then long gaps between courses, and we waited quite a while for the bill at the end, even after putting our jackets on.

The menu is focused with literally only the one item you order— so don’t expect traditional plated variety or side dishes you might find at other restaurants, just a very small bowl of basmati rice on the side. Many of the items lend themselves better to family-style eating, so just be aware.

That said, the Goat Dum Biryani was rich, flavourful, and beautifully prepared and a good choice for an individual. The Butter Chicken is tasty as well, but better suited for sharing with the table rather than eating as a solo dish. With a small side of basmati rice as the only accompaniment, I ordered naan to round out the meal and take away the monotony of literally only butter chicken with basmati rice for supper.

For the price point, slightly larger portions (the rice, the Papadam and Naan bread) would have made the experience feel even more balanced.

It is worth noting that there is no Tandoori Chicken on the menu.

While this particular style of Indian food wasn’t quite what we expected for dinner, my first time experience didn’t warrant a 4-rating all around. I might go back to give it another chance and hopefully revise my ratings. I hope others enjoy their experience here and that the off-service was a one-time thing and that portions might be more generous as in other Indian restaurants I have been to. Allegedly they have another restaurant with a dinner buffet and tandoori chicken. That might be something to try and review as well.

Kinu is an absolute gem! The food brings all the bold, delicious flavors of Indian street food but presented in a creative, elevated way that feels special while still being totally affordable. Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully plated.
The cocktails are just as impressive—unique, refreshing, and clearly crafted with care. The whole experience is made even better by the space itself: beautifully decorated with such a warm, stylish vibe, and the lighting is perfect—cozy without being dark, making it feel inviting and comfortable.
If you’re looking for a place that nails flavor, atmosphere, and value, Kinu should definitely be on your list

I recently had an amazing experience at Kinu, Victoria. The food was drool worthy We ordered Tokri Chaat, Fish Tacos and Naan with Cheese. All these items tasted so good that they were gone in a blink. Also, we were served by Nushara, an amazing woman who gave the best hospitality ever. I would highly recommend this place for someone who loves Indian and Indian fusion food

Kirn and her team are outstanding. Shout out to Kendall and Tyler. All the staff were welcoming and attentive. They were able to describe each dish in detail including the stories of them and the flavours they have. The attention to detail shines through the delicious Indian/ globally inspired cuisine. We tried many dishes but definitely left wanting more. Looking forward to our next visit. Lastly the Mango lassi was delicious.

I have nothing bad to say about Kinu it was a great experience from start to finish! I was just there tonight and and was pleasantly surprised by the remodel it’s very pretty in there. Our server/hostess gave us a lovely story about the remodel and theme of the restaurant Great food from the appetizers to the dessert, highly recommend the whipped goat cheese and naan and the saffron cheesecake. Amazing food, service, and even the bathrooms were pretty haha. Makes me want to come back and try more of the menu. I got a job offer email at the end of our meal too so maybe this place brings luck as well!

Great service and overall experience! The mango lassi was a highlight—tangy, sweet, and incredibly refreshing. I highly recommend it. The chai tea, however, was a bit milder than I expected, so I’d go for the lassi instead.
The Torki Chaat was fantastic—delicious flavors and beautifully presented. **must have dish.
The butter chicken was good, but the chicken tasted a little aged, and the sauce was a bit on the salty side. That said, paired with garlic naan, it was still enjoyable.

Definitely a great spot for an upscale Indian dining experience. I would recommend it for those looking for a top-tier atmosphere and flavorful dishes!

My family really enjoyed our first time at Kinu. We had two waiters who were very attentive and made some great food recommendations which they staggered throughout the night. We had some very tasty cocktails which paired great with the dishes. The ambiance was good and decor was neat, except I would have expected it to be busier on a Saturday night but maybe that’s because it’s fairly new and not many people know about this hidden gem. I would recommend the cauliflower, gnocchi and naan. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of their main dishes (rice or curries) either.
