Bucio’s Chinese is hands down one of the best spots in town! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and served hot. The portions are generous, and everything tastes amazing from the fried rice to the orange chicken. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the service is quick whether you dine in or take out. You can tell they care about quality and their customers. Highly recommend if you’re craving delicious Chinese food!

I really wanted to like this place. Being new to Okeechobee, we were happy to find a Chinese restaurant. However, the food just wasn’t good. I ordered the sweet-and-sour chicken combination plate. The rice had no flavor at all. The chicken and the egg roll had a really weird heavy oil after taste. But the weirdest thing, was they put these weird raw carrots, peppers, and onions in with my chicken, they weren’t cooked. I don’t know if they were supposed to be a garnish if we were supposed to eat them. There didn’t appear to be any kind of seasoning on the food, like it really needs salt or something. Again, I really wanted to like this restaurant, but I had to give my honest review.

Ordered the sweet & sour pork. The pork in the batter was overcooked, but that was not the worst part. The worst part was they gave me ketchup for the sweet & sour sauce. That literally killed it for me as s&s pork is one of favorite dishes and I use it as a benchmark to decide if I’ll go back to a restaurant.

I had put in an order and told them I was allergic to onions and they still literally put it in my food, I ordered wonton soup and they gave me noodle scraps and one wonton. The gravy for the food I got doesn’t even look the right color nor does it taste right. I ordered white rice and got fried rice for my side. The only good thing was the chicken fried rice. My crab Rangoon didn’t even come with sauce .

BEST CHINESE IN THE AREA SINCE CHEN’S. IYK, YK
Lo Mein was fantastic, really took me back to youth eating Chen’s Chinese. Staff is great and I love the Hispanic offering in the entrance. Also got to try the wings, crab rangoon, egg rolls, hot & sour soup… Everything was great. Chef Libo is a great guy also.

I’ve never actually had such bad food that I had to make a bad review. My food was genuinely awful, my fried rice tasted and smelled like cigarette smoke. The smell took over the chicken and egg roll in the container and everything was just wet, and had an awful cigarette taste. I don’t know if they smoke in the establishment or the food was just cooked so poorly it imitated the smell and taste of a cigarette. I don’t know about you but I don’t enjoy my rice and chicken tasting like that. The egg roll and crab Rangoon were soggy and tasted so bland. I had to throw the whole thing out which is disappointing. The only decent ish item was the dumplings but on a scale of 1-10 they were a 4.

0/10 don’t recommend

A Disappointing Takeout Experience in Okeechobee

As someone who genuinely enjoys Chinese cuisine in all its forms — from traditional regional specialties to American-Chinese comfort classics — I always approach a new takeout spot with an open mind and an eager palate. Unfortunately, my recent experience at this particular establishment in Okeechobee left much to be desired.

Let’s start with the basics: I spent just under $54 on a variety of dishes, including a large orange chicken, a large house lo mein, a combo platter (presumably General Tso’s chicken), two extra egg rolls, and what was supposed to be a standard assortment of takeout staples. The combo was to include fried rice, an egg roll, and a single crab rangoon. Oddly enough, I was also charged $3.95 for a beef dish I neither ordered nor received — a detail I only caught once I got home and reviewed the receipt.

Packaging and presentation were unfortunately the first red flags. All items were crammed into a single flimsy plastic bag, each in leaking Styrofoam containers. By the time I got them home, the sauces and juices had mixed into a chaotic mess, coating the food — and my passenger seat — in a sticky residue. The crab rangoon, in particular, was a casualty; completely soaked and robbed of its subtle flavor. Ironically, the egg rolls may have benefitted slightly from the sauce-saturation, as they were otherwise bland, consisting mostly of cabbage with no discernible pork or seasoning.

The house lo mein was perhaps the most jarring surprise — not only was it made with spaghetti noodles, but it also contained only chicken, despite being labeled as a “house special.” No pork, no beef, no shrimp. Just a tangle of uninspired noodles that lacked both authenticity and flavor. The chicken fried rice was equally disappointing, lacking the distinct wok-kissed texture and seasoning that defines even the most basic version of the dish.

That said, not everything was a misfire. The orange chicken and the General’s chicken were actually quite good — crispy without being overly battered, with sauces that hit the right notes of sweet, tangy, and spicy. The kitchen clearly has potential when it comes to their proteins, and I appreciated that the General’s chicken was made with a respectable level of heat, as requested.

Unfortunately, these two bright spots weren’t enough to redeem the overall experience. Between the questionable packaging, missing items, lack of attention to detail, and misrepresentation of dishes, I can’t say I’ll be returning — at least not for a full meal. If anything, I might consider grabbing just the orange chicken or General’s chicken to go… assuming I bring my own containers.

Okeechobee isn’t exactly brimming with options for Chinese food, which makes this all the more disappointing. I truly wish the experience had lived up to the potential hinted at in those two dishes. Sadly, it didn’t. Two stars — and that’s entirely thanks to the proteins.

I ordered a combo platter ,a SHRIMP omen , and two egg rolls . Sent my daughter to get it and every thing was great ! Until I went to eat my shrimp and there was not one peace of shrimp! So I called and they said if I brought it back they would add shrimp ! Like I want to ride all the way back to town and me hungry to get shrimp. I was expecting for them to say we will give you a shrimp platter later for discount or something it being later and all but no . I’ll be going somewhere else next time !
