I absolutely love Five Lakes Coffee. It is easily the best spot in Syracuse. I have two suggestions that would make it even better. First, I’d love to see the 6:00 AM weekday opening time extended to Saturdays. Many of us factory workers start at 7:00 AM and would much rather support a local shop than go to McDonald’s for our morning fix! Second, I’ve noticed some price inconsistency. I order the exact same drink every time, but the total fluctuates between $9 and $11 depending on who is at the register. A more consistent pricing structure would be awesome!

Best coffee in town and over-the-top friendly staff. Even the owner was kind and helpful. My wait time was next to nothing – they’re very fast!
My only suggestion – ask for “half sweet” unless you like dessert drinks. At regular sweetness I find it’s all sugar with very little coffee flavor. Half sweet lets you experience the stellar coffee/espresso quality.

Edit January 2026. I have been stopping by about once a week – the last time got a mocha, was WAY too sweet. Thoday I asked how many pumps of chocholate – she said 5 in the medium – had her back that down to 2 and it was perfect.
EDIT: November 14, 2025: I stopped in at 5 Lakes this morning – I think everyone desrerves another chance. I went from ‘I will never go back” and 1 star, to I think this might be a weekly thing.” and 5 stars. Coffee was good (Dark roast, black), the bagel was very good and toasted to perfection, and the guy at the counter was very very good. The price was more than fair. They won this old guy over.
I tried it (5 Lakes) 3 times since they have opened – once inside, twice in the drive thru. I have ALWAYS gotten fast service and plesant staff. I wanted to try three different drinks before I formed an opinion. The first time I had straight up black coffee. Dark roast. Nada. There was no flavor. it was “flat”. Not sure if they used old beans, not hot enough water for good extraction or not enough grounds in the charge (or not ground fine enough) – but no. I actually drank about half and threw the rest out. I next tried an iced mocha. For chocolate milk, it was great, but absolutely no coffee/espresso flavor, at all. Today I tried a hot mocha. It was so sweet,(and I always get mochas without the whipped cream), it was almost painful, and again, I could not taste any espresso or coffee in the drink at all. I will stick to the tried and true local coffee shops that actually sell coffee. Good luck to you.

My kids and I tried coffee, smoothies, breakfast sandwich, and a cinnamon roll. It was all really good! It was especially nice of the barista to make my daughter a new drink when she didn’t like hers! Overall good experience!

I went through the drive thru on 2 separate occasions while visiting the area. Both times the staff was kind and efficient. The coffee was delicious. I enjoyed the black tie mocha, iced and frozen. I felt the prices were a bit high, but also expected when there are few places in the area for coffee.

Food quality was decent and value was decent; however, the line for the drive through was very slow. I waited for 30 minutes for a single iced latte, including 18 minutes after placing my order. It is also impossible to exit the drive through early, meaning it was not possible to leave when I no longer had time to wait in the drive through line.
