We’ve been coming here almost twice a month for six months last year and have started doing the same this year as well. We’ve brought numerous friends along, and everyone has loved it! Our go-to order is the double broth with veggies, lamb, and tofu, and we always opt for the hand-pulled noodles—they are absolutely delicious and a must-try.
The service is impeccable, with staff who are friendly, attentive, and eager to make recommendations. They make sure everything runs smoothly, from explaining the menu to ensuring your table has everything you need. The attention to detail truly enhances the dining experience.
The quality of the food and the overall experience make the prices more than reasonable. Whether you’re a hot pot aficionado or trying it for the first time, La Mei Hot Pot is a must-visit. We’ll definitely continue coming back and recommending it to all our friends!
I loved their condiments counter: it has everything from chili oil to peanut sauce.
I also loved their menu which has a lot of variety for hot pot additions.
One suggestion though is to give a little flexible to customers for ordering whatever they want. We were a group of 9 and wanted to go with drinks first – the server told us that’s not possible and we should order a hotpot first.
Secondly, the coat hanging area can get quickly congested in winters, maybe you guys should try to address that and expand it somewhere else (since it in the path for customers and servers).
I loved all the food here and so did all other 8 folks in my group.
There’s parking outside the restaurant on street which makes it convenient if you get one.
I highly recommend this hotpot place for anyone looking for it! 🙂
The highlight for me was definitely the shrimp paste, but I haven’t really met a shrimp paste that I don’t like. The fish fillet was also pretty good, as was the sliced premium beef (the fatty one). I wouldn’t get the ribeye or marinated spicy beef again — those didn’t have good texture.
There were a couple of things for which we weren’t sure of the freshness — the bamboo fungus, for example, had some black spots and didn’t taste great. I hope it wasn’t mold…
The sauce bar had a good selection, but it did cost $2.95 per person. And if you get the spicy broth, I don’t think the sauce is needed. I don’t know what it was, but the food was *really* hot which made it a bit hard to eat for impatient people like me.
Overall I liked the shrimp paste, but nothing else was particularly notable. I prefer the broth and meats at Happy Lamb AYCE, so I would definitely go there over here.
The fried milk was very crunchy and not too sweet even if dipping in the condensed milk.
The Udon is plentiful and enough for 2. The fish balls with fish roe inside were small but still tasty. The beef and lamb pieces were smaller than other places but the quality is also better than some others.
We also got chicken gizzard (not pictured). Only issue I have with this is, it was raw and covered in spice seasoning. Once you put it in the pot to cook, the seasoning comes off and mixes into the broth. So now the broth doesn’t taste the same.
If you want sauce (even soy sauce), they charge $3 per person. I don’t know anyone that doesn’t need sauce to eat hot pot so don’t have a choice. Their sauce bar (get your own) has most of the necessary sauces needed.
Their hot pot soup is purely authentic, delicious, not only spicy but most importantly flavorful!
you can choose the lowest spicy level.
You should definitely try it out.
