I ordered take out from this place after hearing good things about their foods. Let’s start off with my favorite dish: Tom Yum fried rice. This dish is flavorful and came with generous portion as it should be since the chicken option comes with a whooping $17 price tag—something you probably don’t expect from a restaurant with street food style. The second dish I tried was Kao Soi. I would rate this as average. Their Kao Soi is not as sweet as many other Thai restaurants which is a good thing but I find it’s a bit salty to my taste. Last, I tried their coconut cake. First of all, coconut cake in general isn’t an authentic Thai food and even in Thailand you will find different ways people make it. I would say this is quite good. They use coconut, not young coconut meat (if you expect this because you went to Thailand before then you should know what I’m talking about). The dough is moist and not overly sweet but somehow reminds me of box cake (this doesn’t mean it’s bad though). The staff were nice and friendly and the restaurant was well kept. The price is probably around $3 above other restaurants for almost every items in the menu which could be significant if you order many dishes. Overall, I think this is a decent Thai restaurant in the area and I wouldn’t mind going back.

Everything we ordered was delicious! When we arrived on a Friday night the place was packed and there were 2 parties ahead of us already waiting for a table, which made me happy to see this new restaurant bringing in the crowds. The employees checked in on us frequently and were very quick to clear tables and get Parties sat expeditiously.

So we were starving by the time we ordered and our eyes were definitely bigger than our tummies but I’m so glad we tried all the things we did. They were kind and packaged our left overs for takeaway:)
Everything, I mean the everything was so delicious. We had the mo yang (bbq pork skewers) spicy wantons, zabb fries with some crazy yummy seasoning and dipping sauce, two orders of the tonkatsu pork (one with the massaman curry and the other with the Khao soi curry) and the mango sticky rice with scoop of coconut ice cream or sherbet? Oh and I also had Thai tea! The massaman curry was my fav with the pork cutlet, which was cooked perfectly and the massaman curry was so flavorful. I had never had khao soi curry, I really liked it but it was def my daughter’s favorite. Neither of us had mango sticky rice before and are now huge fans!
I love having a more casual dining option with such great food so close by. I also appreciate that they have allergen designators on their menu for GF etc.

We recently visited this restaurant and ordered several dishes to get a good sense of the menu, including moo yang, tom yum fried rice, khao soi, and mango sticky rice. Overall, it was a mix of highlights and a few areas that could use improvement.

The standout dish for me was definitely the tom yum fried rice. It was amazingly good—very flavorful, well-seasoned, and truly captured the bold, tangy-spicy essence of tom yum. This is something I would absolutely order again and highly recommend to anyone who enjoys strong Thai flavors.

The moo yang was just so-so for my personal taste. It wasn’t bad, but it leaned on the milder side and didn’t really stand out. I think this dish would be better suited for kids or for someone who prefers less intense flavors. The khao soi was decent and comforting, though not particularly memorable compared to others I’ve had.

For dessert, the mango sticky rice was delicious overall. The sticky rice itself was excellent, but the mango tasted frozen rather than fresh, which affected the texture and made it slightly less enjoyable for me.

Service here was excellent—staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which definitely enhanced the experience. That said, the pricing feels a bit high. Beef dishes cost an additional $4, and at this price point, I would expect more of a full-service restaurant experience and a nicer, more refined atmosphere.

Good food and great service, but the value and ambiance could be improved.

I can’t even begin to describe the uniqueness of this place. I’ve known One of the owners in his other life as a real estate agent. When he told me he wanted to open a Thai restaurant I thought are you serious? And then watched he and his wife travel the country of Thailand and general Lange their experience and their research. When he told me that they wanted to bring something to Utah in the Thai food industry, I thought it was just another statement. It was not. It was a passion.

My wife and I went there and ordered five items just so we can try them all out. I seriously cannot begin to describe the flavors, freshness and authenticity of the food. I have to say that my expectation was that these meals should’ve been served on white fancy plates and being charged three times as much. It is such a unique experience when you see business owners take the time to care about the food and the customers and not try to gouge them, I’m not describing the food because I’ll just tell you as A Cambodian and a Cali transplant foodie, I could write the description of each of these items that could go on forever and you’d be bored breeding it.
Something that they do that I have to mention is how they flash fry the basil leaves and use it as a topping on the dishes, which adds such an amazing pop to the flavoring of the dishes. Not to mention it looks beautiful.

I’ll just say this, he will not be disappointed and Jeff was absolutely right, There is nothing like this in the Utah food scene.

Order anything and everything. It will be amazing.

OK, I also have to add, Jeff and his wife should open a dessert café next-door because hands-down, the coconut cake was out of this world.

Delicious authentic Thai food with great service. The pad Thai was great as well as the mango chicken. Added the shrimp to the pad Thai and the ginger rice to the mango chicken, both of which were a little expensive as add-ons but still very tasty so I didn’t mind. Overall, the food came out very quickly and the friendly staff keeps the restaurant very clean. Even the soda tasted better because they must keep their machine in great shape! My only negative is that it’s relatively expensive for the amount of food you get. Expect to spend about $20-25 a person for an entree and soda. Really delicious though and happy to support local, small business. Excited to come back!

Big Mango blew me away! The food was incredibly fresh and packed with flavor. You can tell they really care about quality and presentation. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the restaurant had a really welcoming vibe. I got the Sticky Situation Cocktail, the Spicy Wontons, Mango Sticky Rice, Pad See Ew and my bf got the Bangkok Fried Chicken. It was honestly one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Highly, highly recommend!

We tried Big Mango for the first time, since it opened seven weeks ago. The service was amazing, helpful and super friendly. Our drinks were filled up several times during the stay. We had the Moo Yang with sticky rice. It was 10/10. My wife had the Tonkatsu with Khao Soi and I had the Beef Drunken Noodles. The taste was spot on.
Just a warning for all those who can’t handle the spiciness, order mild. We’ll definitely go back to try other dishes.

Simply put, this place has good food at a little too high a cost.

The dishes taste better than many other (but not all) Thai places nearby. They have 4 spice levels (no spice, spicy, Thai spicy, and FAFO) which allows you to customize your dish to your palate. I can’t handle level 2 but I’m also not a huge fan of spicy things. We had 3 noodle dishes, the massaman curry, and the Thai BBQ pork skewers appetizer and we were all happy with the different flavors.

The price is really the biggest drawback and reason for 4 stars. $17-18 average for an entree and then adding an additional $4-6 if you want beef instead of chicken is definitely high for the portion sizes for an establishment like this. $9 average for the appetizers is also tough for the amount of food given.

Big Mango really stands out from other Thai places we’ve tried in Utah. The flavors are so authentic and remind us of home. The food is incredible and the drinks go perfectly with it. We’re Thai and can honestly say this place is something special. We’ll definitely be back.

We had Khao Soi Katsu, Moo ping, Drunken Noodles, Coconut Cake, and the Mango Sticky Rice cocktail — everything was so good. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you Big Mango for bringing true Thai flavors to Utah.
