This restaurant in the Cesar Chavez Student Center at SFSU has a large selection of sandwiches and egg dishes, as well as a self-serve food bar. The made-to-order items usually take five to ten minutes. However, a broccoli and cheese baked potato I ordered took twelve minutes, but it was a big spud. The prices for the self-service food bar are calculated by weight (currently $9.75/lb), so you can have as much or as little of the food you want and pay proportionally. They have shrimp, if you’re looking to get more value. In my opinion, most of the food is good. I hear their sandwiches are fantastic, so I’ll give them a try next time. Service was good. Utensils and napkins were provided. Seating and restrooms were available nearby. Overall, this is a good place to stop for an inexpensive meal.
Obviously the most basic menu item, but the burger really left a lot to be desired, the meat tasted bland, dry, and overcooked, and the massive dry bun did it no favors. Hopefully the more complex menu items are better, because this was underwhelming for sure.
The salad bar ended up being pretty overpriced, I wanted to try their various pasta salads but with the weight price it ended up being $9 for a pretty small amount of food. I’m assuming this price is meant for customers to take the hot protein items like chicken tenders rather than just salads, but I found it too expensive.
Also there was no napkins available at the self service area for utensils as far as I could tell and that was awkward.
I’ll consider coming back but for $20 I really didn’t feel like the meal was worth it.
I like this place just because I don’t waste food here. Since I’m picking my portions at the salad bar side. So I pretty much eat what I pay for. I never go over 3 dollars here and I go away full and content.
The salads are loaded pretty fast because the students rush here after classes let out. EVERYONE loves the fried chicken strips, but it’s bad when it runs out and they still haven’t fried any new ones and we’re all waiting in line for it and people behind us are getting impatient.
But in general I like this place just because there’s a variety and I can get my fill for less then 3 dollars. Oh and keep in mind I’m 4’11” and 100 lbs… so it’ll be proportional for everyone else…
REALLY? THAT’S what you’re sorry about? I usually don’t write reviews but I was extremely dissatisfied with the customer service and the lack of concern for the main reason I brought the salad back. I was more mad that they placed the apology on the double charge rather than the whole reason I was there — there was a nasty bug in my salad! I haven’t gone there since, and if you do, make sure to inspect your salad.
