If you’re looking for really good authentic mexican cuisine, this place is 10/10! I highly recommend the chilaquiles verdes, so good! I was impressed at how clean the establishment was, how fast the food was prepared and how delicious it was. Shout-out to the waiter Guillen, I appreciate how he was super courteous and professional! I will definitely recommend this restaurant to family and friends.

What a unique West Town Gem! Sabroso’s fresh flavorful dishes wowed our family. Every plate was generous and authentic. Salsas and sauces are on point. The flavor depth of all these delicious dishes shows their hard work and effort to make everything fresh daily. We found the prices reasonable. Our server Raul was very attentive. We’re returning every time we’re in the neighborhood.

We had such a great lunch here. The food was great, but the service was even better. Everyone we interacted with was so kind and attentive. It felt like dining at a fiend’s house. I can’t say enough good things. I wish I lived closer so that my could come more often, but I’ll definitely keep it in mind when I’m in the area.

Unexpectedly Great Mexican Spot in West Town!
We stumbled upon this place by chance, and it turned out to be a hidden gem. If you’re looking for solid Mexican food in the West Town area, this spot is definitely worth a visit. The tamales, in particular, were absolutely heavenly—hands down the best I’ve ever had!

As you walk in, the place doesn’t look too impresive but… the chicken milanesa tortas was just delicious! Comes with all tge trimmings including avocado. You must try their chilaquiles, they are served with cubed potatoes and toast bread! W.o.w.! First time I have had them with bread in the US (very common in Mexico to have chilaquiles with white bread). Our server was very helpful and provided us with all types of hot sauces they have available. Prices well lower of what I expected.

We are, more than anything, just plain confused by the high ratings for this place. The prices are good, no doubt about that, but the food, at least what we ordered, couldn’t have been more average and gringo-tuned. We ordered the chicken and veggie enchiladas, and a carnitas burrito. Not exciting menu choices, for sure, but nothing was special about these standards. Chicken and carnitas were flavorless (flavorless carnitas?!?! How is that even possible?). Enchiladas were soggy and had hardly any cheese. Sauces were just okay. Service was very pleasant, atmosphere was pretty much hole-in-the-wall. Cannot see what the fuss is about. Given all the great Mexican available in Chicago, we’ll never come back. Firmly three-star. But won’t break the bank.

First time here and I can’t wait to come back. The food is definitely a cut above a typical Mexican joint: it’s tangy, spicy, salty, and herbaceous, with a slightly refined presentation. All that being said, it’s not expensive. The decor is warm and the staff are friendly. The place justifies a detour if you’re looking for a new Mexican spot.
