Chula Seafood Uptown Plaza is a fish market and restaurant featuring fresh, sustainable fish by the pound and a full seafood forward menu. Fish tacos, fish & chips, clam chowder, Po’Boys, grilled fish plates and more. Family owned and operated fishery, wholesale, retail and restaurant – Established in San Diego in 2009. Our Scottsdale location opened in 2016 and has been named Best Seafood by several acclaimed Valley publications. This place has been on my radar for YEARS and we finally made it in….I was not disappointed! Shout out to Abbas…dude knows his stuff!!! Very knowledgeable, accommodating, enthusiastic, committed, and honestly so passionate about the brand that you get excited before you even order. Just such a nice guy that elevated the whole experience. Food was so good that it was eaten before I could even take photos. We started with some raw Prince Caspian oysters with all the fixings and the chef’s civiche – perfect blend of acid and heat. We also did the Cod Po’ Boys and OMG soooooooo good. My husband hates Po Boys and he couldn’t stop raving about how good it was – bread was nice and soft, fish was perfectly fried, and it was expertly dressed (just the right amount of slaw and remoulade). Under Abbas’s recommendation, we tried the grilled fish tacos and absolute heaven! Fresh Ono flown in from Hawaii, and it truly took me back to the islands. Finished with a delicious orange and pistachio trifle. What a refreshing experience to get truly fresh seafood where care is really taken with the ingredients. We will be back for sure as there are many many more things to sample…and with fresh options, there will always be welcome surprises.

Fresh fish, good food, friendly staff! Today I tried two tacos the fish and also the shrimp street tacos. Both of them were $6 during happy hour. I also had a bowl of clam chowder. All the food was good It was a very lead-back atmosphere I do recommend this place.

Loved my experience at Chula Seafood Uptown. The food was amazing — the shrimp burrito was honestly the best I’ve ever had, full of flavor with perfectly cooked shrimp. The tuna Hawaiian bowl was just as good, super fresh and really well balanced.
The staff was so friendly and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. Also worth mentioning: they’re currently offering $20 free when you buy a $100 gift card, and the special is running through December 31st. It was such a great deal that I bought $300 worth of gift cards. Can’t wait to go back and use them!

Stopped in after a long time this restaurant was on my list and decided to go for it. I’m so glad I did!
We participated in the AZ Restaurant Week event and ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees – Tuna Tostada & Cup of Clam Chowder and Shrimp Burrito & Tuna Melt. All the items were really tasty, fresh, and flavorful! I thoroughly enjoyed all the food and enjoyed how high quality it was.
We also ordered a regular menu item – 3 pc fish & chips which were good! The fries ended up being a bit soggy because of the oil from the fish on top. The easy fix is to keep them separate instead of stacked.
Ambiance is very cute and casual like a coastal cafe. I would come back when I’m craving quality grade and fresh seafood.

Tried this spot for the first time. Atmosphere and service were wonderful!
We ordered the grilled fish sandwich, fish California burrito + a happy hour taco al pastor!
• The fish in both the sandwich and the burrito tasted a bit dry, really needed the side lemon/lime to help.
• The sauce in the fish sandwich was great, and the pickles were amazing – sliced super thin and crunchy!
• The burrito was super heavy on the sauce, but overall a good choice.
• The salsa that came with the chips + salsa side was great – perfect amount of tang.
• The taco al pastor was SUPER spicy, needed additional water to wash it down, and my nose was running – just wish we would have been given a heads up on how spicy it was.
Overall 6.4/10! We would still like to come back though and try additional things! ◡̈

If you love seafood, this spot has a good variety of seafood which you can buy from the menu or fresh. I tried the lobster roll and wasn’t impressed. It was tasteless, maybe some melted salted butter would have improved it. I had to add flavor to it by adding salt and pepper. Portion of the lobster roll was decent though. The shrimps and bisque were good. I also enjoyed their fries. I would definitely go back just to try something else.

I crave seafood often, but I’m not always wanting to go spend big, and I’m not too trusting of a cheap seafood spot in the middle of the desert. So, stumbling upon @chula one day was the best surprise!
Chula started in San Diego and eventually realized that other desert dwellers, like me, wanted fresh seafood too. Chula has three locations in AZ. I stumbled upon the Uptown locatio, but they are also in South Scottsdale and Grayhawk. This upcoming Saturday their south Scottsdale location, called Rosie, is celebrating 8 years. Stop by for two buck shuck oysters, prizes, and more. The other two locations will be doing the two buck shucks as well!
Check out their website for the daily menu at each location. My sister enjoyed her poke bowl and I took the suggestion of trying the popular California burrito with shrimp. It was amazing!!! The freshness and flavor was mouthwatering. The burrito is huge so it can easily be shared. I enjoyed a side of clam chowder as well and a tasty cocktail. It’s a great value for delicious seafood, and I will most definitely return.

It was really nice! However I would say that it is a bit pricey. There were a lot of vegetables in my Korean bowl so that made it filling but it’s definitely not an affordable option or alternative to fast food poke restaurants. It’s nice once in a while! It is a really cute place in a great area. The food is fresh I will say.
