We had dinner here with my husband and fiends and our orders were delicious.
I’m super picky with meat and the chimichanga with steak was soooo good, also el pollo fiesta and mango frozen margarita was delicious.
We’ll definitely come back here.

Most refreshing little stop on our E-Bike trip in OPELIKA, AL. We often travel around and find little towns and this happened to be right in a family members back door. So close to the historic area of Opelika. There is an active train that runs through downtown still and it’s wonderfully designed as a whole. This restaurant is a common place to find locals from what I hear. The tower drink is a special one I heard from the locals I met. I love this little downtown and there are lots of places around here. The food at Viva La Vida was as expected and fresh. I was surprised at the quality in AL for Mexican food.

This place is a gem. Extremely good prices for the TexMex staples like chimichangas and taquitos done to a surprisingly, and pleasantly, high standard. The meat is seasoned in a delicate way which consistently (on the items I’ve tried with with beef and chicken) provides a deeply savory flavor. They have solid tacos as well, but there are a lot of other good street taco places in town. Also very good deserts, especially the churros.
When it comes to the stuff I order a lot at Tex-Mexican resturants, this restaurant is top 3 in the area, easily outclassing some of the more “established” options (won’t name names haha) in town (I am shocked their rating is not higher). The Mexican next to Goodwill is also top tier for more “traditional” things like a torta sandwich.).

Came downtown for lunch only to find several closed restaurants. This was open so tried it. Very enjoyable patio. Great service. Very good food (see pic). Lunch specials plus daily specials. Good quantity. Well priced. We will be back.

The food was terrible. The rice was so salty it was nasty. The fajitas had no taste at all. When I said something the night manager came over to argue with me. Then I was told how rude I was to say that the food was awful. It’d be different if I ate the food, but it was so bad I couldn’t handle a second bite.

Started me off with some amazing salsa & chips. Usually table salsa is bland but their’s actually has some flavor & little bit of kick without having to order spicy. I personally like it hot but flavorful will always make me happy. Server was kind, fast & accurate. Food was notably fresh & filling. Additional condiments & sauces are available at all tables without needing to request them. Atmosphere & building design make you smile.

Seated us outside in 48 degree weather and then told us the outdoor heaters had no gas.
The most unbelievable occurrence was when the floor gave way. The rear chair legs went through the floor and one of our party found himself on the floor!
The waiter gave a weak apology and Management never even came to the table.

We have been eating here for a while now and tonight was terrible. The time before tonight was bad as well. The chicken for the chimichanga wasn’t shredded it was the cut chicken and it was soaking wet. Cheese not melted in quesadilla, melted cheese over top of the beans on one plate but the regular cheese on the other two. Asked for no salad or lettuce or sourcream, still got it. And the carna was all lime. And our waitor said he didn’t know why the kitchen made it like that when we asked why it was done differently than everytime we have been. It has been so good before but I dont know what they have going on now.

Amazing Mexican Cafe in historic Opelika that is well worth the visit. Loved the decor! Especially liked the clean, crisp uniforms and smiling staff. Great atmosphere. Enormous menu. Very quick and courteous service. Crazy good salsa. My food was delicious and fresh. (The bar looked interacting but didn’t have an opportunity to try a beverage.) Will definitely stop by during my next trip through the area!
