I hope this was just an off day but if so, it was certainly egregious. Friendly enough staff but the atmosphere was AWFUL and food was bad. They were absolutely blaring music, not entirely sure what it was but it was WAY too loud for a restaurant. Like K-pop or dubstep turned up to 11. I’m in my 30s and love music so I’m not a grandma but it also kept skipping from Bluetooth and they kept playing the same song multiple times (?) What happened to a normal playlist? It was honestly just bizarre and surprising. The food was also simply not good. The slices looked pretty bleak. Half of us got barely cooked toppings, tons of raw white onion and unmelted cheese, big chunks of uncooked bell pepper, I don’t know how they would consider that acceptable to serve. Pepperoni slice was cooked fine and so was the grandma but it’s just the same crust but square, not a deep dish style like you expect for a grandma pie. Quality was below average. I’ve never had an experience like this in ATL so I wanted to share. Wishing you guys the best in future quality control and atmosphere tweaks.

Overpriced disappointing food!
This was the second time I got food from here. I tried to give Pielands a second chance after being disappointed the first time but it got even worse. I ordered food for delivery and it came 30 minutes late. It seems like my food wasn’t made until the driver arrived to the restaurant. I got the limited time chicken, bacon, ranch pizza. It barely had any cheese or chicken on it. I didn’t taste or see any ranch on it. The buffalo wings were soggy by the time I got them. Won’t be coming back here. I paid $45 for bad food. I could’ve paid less than $20 for dominoes which would’ve tasted better.

As far as I’m concerned, my search for Atlanta’s best gluten-free pizza is over. I was heartened by the praise of Pielands’ GF crust and found them to be overwhelmingly correct. On the menu, the sole GF offering is in the form of a square personal pan size, and it includes one topping. Additional toppings can be added for a charge (though celiac diners beware: none of the toppings are safe). I wasn’t sold on the look of things when the pie first came out since it looked heavily browned and burnt, but the taste was outstanding. The sauce is sweet in a recognizably NY-style, with a crust that I wouldn’t have known was gluten-free if I hadn’t ordered it myself. It was crispy with good chew, and the Italian sausage I’d chosen as my topping was savory without being too salty.
My husband ordered two grandma slices from the ready pans, and I’m afraid he was less than enthused with his choices. Both of his slices were floppy and oily. After tasting mine, my non-GF husband remarked that he should’ve ordered one for himself too.
We both loved the chef’s salad, which was a healthy serving and surprisingly robust with toppings like olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, cubed cheese, sliced salami, pickled onions, and pickled peppers. It was a riot of colors in a bowl and a great starter for our meal.
Service at the counter was brisk and business-like, though they were happy to answer whatever questions we had about the menu. They bring the food to your table (which has a dedicated pizza stand! I love little details like these), but you bus your own tray and trash afterwards.
Inside, the restaurant has a casual, retro dive-bar feel, with 80s tunes (at least while I was there) and even a Ms. Pacman game machine in the corner. There are a few tables for dining in, and several tables out on the sidewalk for those who prefer to eat outdoors.

The quality of the pizza is just not very good. The crust sucks. They give you so few pepperonis on a pepperoni pizza too. This place used to be a lot better. I won’t order again. MTH pizza is much better.
I had the pizza delivered. I didn’t expect it to be hot because the delivery time was more than hour but I am okay with reheating in the oven.

Pielands Sub and Slice in the Virginia Highlands was a breath of fresh air. The restaurant itself was spotless, and all the staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was bright but still had an old-school NYC slice spot feel.
We ordered the Spicy Meatball (square 16×16), which was fantastic. The sauce is on the sweeter side, which went well with the spiciness of the meat and peppers. The crust was crispy and chewy at the same time and might have been my favorite part.
Overall, I recommend this pizza spot to anyone! Enjoy!

Pielands has completely raised the bar for pizza in Atlanta! Their Cacio e Pepe pizza is absolute perfection — creamy, peppery, and somehow both rich and light at the same time. The balance of sharp pecorino, buttery sauce, and just the right amount of black pepper hits every note. The crust is the ideal combo of chewy and crisp, with that wood-fired flavor that makes each bite better than the last. Beyond the pizza, the whole Pielands experience is top-notch — warm service, great atmosphere, and a menu full of creative takes on Italian classics. But if you try just one thing, make it the Cacio e Pepe pizza. It’s the kind of dish you’ll think about for days afterward.

I like that there is a pizza joint in town— it’s the kind of place we need. I feel the pizza, however, has way too much sugar in the sauces and/or dough— it’s way too sweet and otherwise ruins nice looking pies. I hope the management takes this constructively, and I hope changes are made to the recipes. Again, wayyyy too sweet.

Came here for dinner with my family. It was busy when we got there but we were able to order in a few minutes. We got the cheesy bread and the Piedmont Pep. There was seating available because it seemed most orders were takeout. We had to wait about 20-30 minutes for our cheesy bread to come out. It was piping hot when we got it and it was delicious! Our pizza came out a few minutes later and that was also very hot. The pizza was ok to me. the crust tasted good but it didn’t hold the sauce, cheese, and pepperoni very well because it mostly just slid off when you try to bite it. The flavor was good though, had a nice little kick to it. The staff was working hard! The seating area was pretty dirty. so we just cleaned the table ourselves and they didn’t have any clean cups the first 20 minutes we were there. We had to go back to the counter to re-ask for cups. Overall it was an ok place.
Update: Management reached out and was very nice and accommodating! Very much appreciated!

Pizza is delicious and fresh even after being tossed back in the oven. Def an 8.2 on the Portnoy scale. THE WINGS! Went with a friend and we agreed these are the best wings we have ever eaten. So good we cannot remember our last best wings choice.

The service was better than the food. Maybe they were having a rough day with the ovens or something because stuff was burnt. The manager came to our table to tell us that he had to remake our pizzas because he burnt them. When the new pizzas were brought out, mine was ok, but my husband’s was burnt. Lol. Even the garlic knots were burnt in the display case. The service was phenomenal though, so they get 4 stars on that alone.
