I’m usually not very picky when it comes to BBQ, and C&J is usually fantastic. I recently ordered a pound of moist brisket and half rack of spare ribs. The brisket was tender and moist, almost over done, (which isn’t a big deal to me) but the bark was also over smoked, extremely bitter. The spare ribs were absolutely gigantic and very chewy, as chewy at a pork chop, if not worst. I still enjoyed the plate for the most part. Unfortunately, it was a 3/10 experience for me. Usually, C&J is an 8/10 for me. I’ve ordered C&J probably 20 times in the past 4 years. This was my first “bad” experience.

Got the three meat plate with marbled brisket, regular sausage and ribs. The brisket was really good. The sausage was good but had been setting out and was cool. The ribs were medium tender but with good seasoning. The side of beans were good but not special.
Overall, I would come back again.

Update: Sunday December 15, 2024 – brisket is cold fat and salty. Could be better. //. Good. Bring your Momma. Clean and neat. Many different choices. Easy to understand menu. Great dessert.

Compared to the famous Texas barbecue in downtown Austin, this one uses less oil and salt, making it delicious and healthier. More suitable for us.

My grandsons wanted to eat BBQ after school and they selected C&J. My grandsons loved their BBQ. Since I do all my cooking, I would have seasoned differently with caramelized onions and other vegetables adding garlic and cilantro. In addition, I only eat organic foods, but their meats are not. I found it too expensive for the portions served.

C&J Keeps On Producing Great Q, Year After Year. Is there any wonder they’ve been voted best barbecue in Brazos Valley for the past 20 years? Since I don’t live in B/CS, I haven’t been there in a few years. Went today, got the 3-meat plate with brisket, jalapeño/cheese sausage, and pork belly. It was all great! You can never go wrong with their brisket!

Good standard bbq plate. The brisket and ribs were the best. Green beans were too buttery for me but fried okra was great. Corn was a bit bland. Don’t skip the sweet n tangy pickles. They have burnt ends in the back if you ask!
