Well, it’s a slot bar/Mexican restaurant/BBQ place. The restaurant side is as expected but the bar has slot machines and is very dark.

Beer is a bit expensive, especially considering there is a taproom in the same parking lot which sells good local beer at fair prices.

I’m giving a 1 star on the food because, as an experienced grill and meat connoisseur, I was extremely disappointed by their BBQ. I ordered just a side of the brisket to take home and not only was it not fresh, it was dryer than jerky in the desert. No sauce added or on the side. The worst part is that is was clearly spoiled… I could smell it through the bag. You could actually see the glossy meat fibers of decomposition and smell that metallic rot scent from old meat.

I requested my money back and did not touch it. They refunded me which was nice, but who tries to serve such a thing and expect someone to eat it?

It makes me wonder how the rest of the food quality is maintained. Too bad too as this place is conveniently located for us in the area, but they are missing the mark.

Absolutely amazing! The chile relleno was delicious — perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. And that sauce? Incredible, especially in this kind of weather. Honestly, anyone who says otherwise just isn’t a true foodie.
The food really spoke for itself, but what made the experience even better was meeting the owners. They’re wonderful people who genuinely care about their customers and the quality of every dish they serve. That kind of passion shows in every bite. Pure magic.
Highly recommend!

I had the chile verde California burrito for lunch today! Oh my goodness probably the best and most authentic burrito I have ever had! After meeting the owner and dealing with the staff here I can see why it was so delicious! They don’t focus on there bottom line but focus there love and attention to the food and service! Thank you so much for the great meal I had the pleasure and delight to experience! I know that I will be back to try more of the menu soon!

Mediocre Mexican food that is overpriced. The staff were very friendly and service was awesome. However, there are way tastier and more competitive places in Portland. My chile rellenos were bland and my wife’s salad was awful. The chile rellenos are premade and left to sit in a pan until ready. Good chile rellenos should be dipped in batter and fried moments before being served. The owner also insulted us by telling us to get our tastebuds checked and that we should eat elsewhere. Everyone in our party did not like the food.

Danny Sandoval. Yes, I lived in Mexico and most of Central America. I worked with farmers to export Latin American food crops such as yucca, malanga, edoes, ginger, habanero peppers, coconuts and limes. I lived in Spain where we owned two restaurants and I also grow avocados in Florida. I have been to over 100 countries and I am fluent in German, Spanish, French and English. Don’t you think I would know good Mexican food if I tasted it? Your chile rellenos tasted mediocre and my wife thought your taco salad was terrible. Respect my opinion and don’t insult me.

I had the chicken enchiladas with green sauce and my partner had the chile relleno. Everything was fantastic! Luis is always such a joy when I come into the cantina! I usually just get drinks here but it was dinnertime this visit. Danny and team make everything with love and enthusiasm. This is one of our places to visit when we go out, thank you!

Just as amazing as I remember it back in the day! I got the Sandoval’s burrito with Chicken, and Salsa Verde on the side. Incredible! Soft, delicious tortilla, juicy chicken, and beyond flavorful. Give this place a try.. you won’t regret it.

Lovely atmosphere with fantastic owners! The food is fresh, flavorful and consistent. The staff is fantastically accommodating and attentive which speaks volumes! They make the guacamole to your taste at the table which was a feeling point in and of itself. As someone who has a dairy allergy, their attention to detail and protocol was impressive and reassuring.

I think my favorite part of our second visit was the amazing conversation we had with the adorable couple that owns the place

Had a great date night here and we were surprised they weren’t more busy at 6pm on a Friday! They made the guacamole fresh table-side and the Arroz con Pollo soup really hit the spot. We’ve been missing Chevys and this was an even better in terms of freshness.

Average Mexican food and on the pricier side. Excellent tequila selection but drinks were weak and margaritas were overly sweet, tasted like a pre mix. Many Mexican beers on tap. Brisket seemed to be the most popular protein.
